‘Man on Fire’ Series on Netflix Starring Bobby Cannavale (EXCLUSIVE)

Bobby Cannavale will guest star in the upcoming series adaptation of “Man on Fire” on Netflix, Variety only learned.

The eight-episode series is based on the novel of the same name by AJ Quinnell, the first Quinnell novel to feature the character Marcus Creasy.

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will star in the series as Creasy, “once a high-functioning and skilled Special Forces mercenary, known for surviving even the most desolate situations, Creasy is now plagued by intense PTSD,” according to the official logline. “Determined to overcome his personal demons, he sets out on the path to redemption. But before he can adjust to this new life, he finds himself back in the fire and fighting harder than ever.”

Billie Boullet will also appear in the series.

Cannavale will play Paul Rayburn, described as an “ex-Special Forces soldier who possesses a unique ability to read people. He is charming, caring and protective of those he cares for. Despite his warm, fatherly nature, his years of service in the field have given him a keen awareness of violence and human behavior. Quick-witted and incredibly intellectual, he probably has all the answers, and if not, he will find them.

Cannavale’s previous TV credits include the hit Netflix series “The Watcher,” “Nine Perfect Strangers” at Hulu, “Homecoming” at Amazon, “Mr. Robot” on USA Network, and “Nurse Jackie” on Showtime. He has won two Emmy Awards to date: one as a guest star in ‘Will & Grace’ in 2005 and another for Best Supporting Actor in ‘Boardwalk Empire’ in 2013. He was also nominated twice for his work in ‘Nurse Jackie’ for Best Guest Actor in a Comedy. In film, Cannavale can currently be seen in both ‘Ezra’ and ‘Maxxine’. His other roles include ‘The Irishman’, ‘Old Dads’, ‘Blonde’, ‘I, Tonya’, ‘Chef’, ‘Blue Jasmine’ and ‘The Station Agent’.
