Male actor gave me a book to ‘eat less’ and lose weight

“Wuthering Heights” duo Margot Robbie and Charli xcx joined forces for Complex’s latest “GOAT Talk” video interview, in which Robbie revealed that a male co-star once gave her a book advising her to lose weight. Robbie, who stars in and produces ‘Wuthering Heights’, recalled the insulting encounter when asked to name the worst gift she has ever received.

“Very, very early in my career, an actor I was working with, a male actor, gave me a book called ‘Why French Women Don’t Get Fat,’ and it was essentially a book that told you to eat less,” Robbie said, to Charli’s horror. “I was like, ‘Woah, fuck you, dude.'”

When Charli asked if this male co-star was still working today, Robbie replied: “That was a big deal [long time ago]. I have no idea where he might be now. This was really back in the day… He basically gave me a book to let me know I needed to lose weight. I thought, ‘Wow.’”

Robbie plays Catherine Earnshaw opposite Jacob Elordi as Heathcliff in “Wuthering Heights,” directed by “Promising Young Woman” and “Saltburn” filmmaker Emerald Fennell. The film’s marketing, powered by Charli’s original songs, is erotically charged, but Robbie recently opened up about this British Vogue the actual movie will be slightly different.

“Everyone expects this to be very, very raunchy. I think people will be surprised. Not to say there’s no sexual elements in it and it’s not provocative – it certainly is provocative – but it’s more romantic than provocative,” Robbie told concerned readers. “This is a great epic romance. It’s been so long since we’ve had one – maybe ‘The Notebook,’ or ‘The English Patient.’ You have to go back decades. It’s that feeling when your chest swells or it feels like someone has punched you in the gut and the air leaves your body. That’s an Emerald signature. Whether tantalizing or repulsive, her superpower provokes a physical response.”
