Lisa Marie Presley said she had a ‘premonition’ that Elvis would die

Riley opened up about her family dynamics and her involvement in preparing Lisa Marie’s upcoming memoir, From here to the great unknownbased on audio recordings left by her late mother.

Oprah, referring to an excerpt from the book, asked: “The morning of Elvis’ death, your mother woke up and knew instinctively that something was wrong. Would you like to tell us about that? She’s nine years old, and most of us remember it still happened when we were nine years old.”

The Daisy Jones and The Six actress replied: “Yes, definitely. I think this is the first time she ever talks about his death in detail in the book.

“She said goodnight to him and I think she knew she was saying ‘goodnight.’ Like she had some kind of feeling – I think she often had the feeling that things weren’t going well for him.’

Recalling a letter Lisa Marie wrote as a child, Riley revealed, “She also wrote these letters when she was little, which we have, saying something like, ‘I hope my father doesn’t die.'”
