USC has never made the play of the university football, but it is a streak that will come soon, according to a Trojans -large, who tells TMZ Sports Lincoln Riley‘S Southern California Squad is preparing to kick this season!
We recently encountered SC Legend Lendale White At Lax … and with the team that came a disappointing 7-6 season, we asked half of Thunder and Lightning for his prospects on the 2025 campaign.
“I feel that my Trojan horses will be in the play -offs of the University Football. I believe in Lincoln. I believe we have some guys here who get the job done. And I am excited to see what is bringing us this year!”
White clearly has SC the right coach, but not everyone agrees … and after three so-seasons in LA, allegedly Riley on the hot chair. Everyone from fans to school Brass wants a winner.
But Lendale says that those expectations may not be entirely fair in view of the current college football landscape.
“If you are a Trojan, we have to win. We are expected to win,” said White. “I can understand what it is, but in this new day of the university athlete that can switch when they are there, as soon as it gets a bit difficult, they leave.”
“It’s not that you have the Pete Carroll‘s or even the [Nick] Saban‘s and so.’
Of course, university football was much different when those legendary coaches roamed through the sidelines.
Players could not be paid (legally), and if they wanted to switch, they were almost always obliged to sit outside for a season. That is no longer the case.
“If you can’t keep these players or always keep the boys close because they run away from the competition, I can’t always put it on the coaches.”
White, an all-American, played in SC between 2003 and 2005 when the program was perhaps the best in the entire university football, went 37-2 and won a national championship.
That was before the Playoff system of the College Football was implemented – and with the extensive format, 12 teams will eventually compete for the Natty. Lendale believes that SC will occupy one of the places.
The Trojans start their season in less than a week when they play Missouri State on Saturday.
