Launch of the new transport service “JAL de Hako-byun” | News

JALCARGO and the JR East Group are pleased to announce the launch of a new one-stop transportation service, “JAL de Hako-byun”, which combines the strengths of the Shinkansen high-speed rail network and JAL’s global air freight network.
Leveraging JR East Group’s extensive domestic network in eastern Japan and JALCARGO’s global air freight network, the new service will launch on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. This initiative follows a successful trial shipment from Sendai to Singapore in October 2025, demonstrating the efficiency and reliability of the service. In the future, both companies will deepen their cooperation to expand the transportation network and further improve service offerings.
Highlights:
■Significantly shorter lead time and high punctuality
By integrating the frequent and punctual Shinkansen train service with JAL’s high-speed long-haul flights, the service achieves remarkable reductions in transit time compared to conventional transportation methods.
■Extensive network connectivity
By combining JR East Group’s regional rail network with JAL’s global air network, the service enables broader international market access, facilitating increased exports of local premium products from Japan.
■Contributing to social challenges
The use of rail transport helps address driver shortages and reduces CO₂ emissions through modal shifts, supporting sustainable logistics and environmental objectives.
