Labrinth says ‘F— “Euphoria” and ‘I’m done with this industry’

“Euphoria” composer Labrinth is distancing himself from the HBO series, whose highly anticipated third season premieres April 12.
In a cryptic Instagram post on Thursday evening, the Emmy and Grammy nominated musician wrote: “I’m done with this industry. Fuck Columbia. Double fuck ‘Euphoria.’ I’m gone. Thank you and good night x.”
Labrinth is currently signed to Columbia Records, which released his latest album ‘Cosmic Opera Act 1’ in January. He has provided the music for Sam Levinson’s hit teen drama – which launched the careers of Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney and Jacob Elordi – since its first season in 2019, but for Season 3 it was announced that Hans Zimmer would also join as composer.
“Another chapter in the ‘Euphoria’ universe!” Labrinth said in a statement at the time of the announcement. “So great to bring some new magic to this new season together with Hans, one of my film music heroes. Love x.”
Representatives for Labrinth, HBO and Columbia Records did not immediately respond Variety‘s request for comment or clarity on the statement.
The comments section of Labrinth’s post was filled with support from fans, with one writing: “You totally made ‘Euphoria’. Whatever it is, know I’m on your side.” Fellow musician Skylar Gray added: “Please don’t stop making music, the world needs you.”
Labrinth is best known for his contributions to the score and soundtrack of ‘Euphoria’, with songs such as ‘All for Us’, ‘Formula’, ‘Mount Everest’ and ‘Never Felt So Alone’ – featuring vocals by Billie Eilish and nominated for a Grammy – which racked up millions of streams.
