King Charles is facing $261 billion in damages over Britain’s link to slavery
A Palace spokesperson revealed: “His Majesty said to the Commonwealth Heads of Government in Rwanda last year: ‘I cannot express the depth of my personal grief at the suffering of so many, as I reflect on my own understanding of the lasting impact of the slavery continues to deepen’.
“That process has continued with vigor and determination since His Majesty’s accession.
“Historic Royal Palaces is a partner in an independent research project, which began in October last year, which, among other things, examines the links between the British monarchy and the transatlantic slave trade during the late 17th and 18th centuries.”
The palace spokesperson added: “As part of that action, the Royal Household is supporting this investigation by providing access to the Royal Collection and the Royal Archives.”
