King Charles’ Harry and Meghan ‘Passport Delay’ scandal

The 40-year-old Royal and his wife Meghan Markle, 43, are supposed to have waited almost six months until the British passports are published for their two children, Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4.
According to a source close to the pair, they feared that the applications were deliberately delayed by King Charles, 76, because of continuous tensions about the use of the royal titles of their children.
The applications were submitted under the surname Sussex-one shift of the previous legal name of the children, Mountbatten-Windsor.
Our source said: “There was a clear hesitation to give the children their passports. Charles was against Archie and Lili who had the titles – especially the HR – and the British passports would effectively serve as the first and possibly alone, legal recognition of those names.”
Harry and Meghan agreed not to use their HRH titles after their decision to take a step back from Royal Tasks in 2020.
As grandchildren of the prince, however, Archie and Lilibet are entitled to the style of his and its royal highness under the Royal Protocol.
