KIMPTON ERA MIDTOWN NEW YORK OPENS AS MANHATTAN’S NEWEST LIFESTYLE DESTINATION | News

Now open, Kimpton Era Midtown New York serves as the ultimate launch pad for the modern traveler: a 33-story skyscraper designed by Extell Development Company and the first under their direct management. Inside, the explorer will find rooms that are small yet thoughtfully designed, distilled to their purest essence to create a calm, intuitive retreat where the city is yours to discover. In addition to the rooms, the pulse of the hotel beats through four distinctive restaurant and bar concepts in collaboration with Apicii, including a collaboration with legendary chef Rocco DiSpirito and a breathtaking rooftop bar with 360-degree views of the skyline of the city’s cultural and business center. This attractive gateway to an effortless New York experience features a 1,300-square-foot 24-hour fitness center equipped with Peloton bikes, yoga mats and the latest cardio equipment.

Elysa Goldman, Senior Vice President, Development at Extell Development Company, added: “As our first managed hospitality project under Extell Hospitality Services, Kimpton Era is a testament to our commitment to best-in-class service and sophisticated design. We have worked with world-class partners to create a destination that reflects the multi-layered character of New York City, and we are proud to see this vision come to life in the heart of Manhattan.”

“We don’t just open a hotel; we give guests the keys to find their own rhythm in the heart of Manhattan,” said General Manager Kori Yoran. “New York isn’t just a city you visit; it’s an experience that moves at its own electric pace. Kimpton Era captures that quintessential duality: the vibrant pulse of the streets combined with a sophisticated sanctuary where you can catch your breath. We designed every corner as a sophisticated base camp where the city’s many eras come together, inviting our guests to dive into the buzz and return to a space that feels like home.”

DESIGN
With interiors brought to life by INC Architecture & Design and architectural design by SLCE Architects, Kimpton Era channels modern classicism with artful, intuitive comfort. The design reflects the layered character of New York – elegant yet gritty, refined yet raw – woven into a purpose-built skyscraper. The design strikes a balance between masculine and feminine tones and exudes a soft, edgy vibe, designed for elegance. Notably, INC Architecture & Design’s design team also led the 2022 renovation of the nearby Rockefeller Center monument, making the hotel feel like a natural extension of its iconic surroundings.

ROOMS + SUITES
The overnight journey begins on the ground floor with a self-service check-in desk: a streamlined arrival that allows guests to proceed directly to their room. On the third floor, a contemporary lobby unfolds with refined textures and rich accents. This floor houses The Parlor, which serves as the hotel’s main lobby, and a staffed reception desk. Above, guests follow custom-made bohemian rugs to each of the 529 jewel box-inspired rooms. The precision-designed palette of muted floral tones in soft neutrals, cool blues, olive greens and dusty pinks creates the feeling of a tranquil escape. Warm woodwork with additional fluted paneling is a nod to the building’s architecture that rises beyond the large windows in each room.

Crafted Comfort: The rooms are carefully tailored to a traveler’s lifestyle, a masterpiece of urban proportions where every square inch serves a purpose. The thoughtful layout places everything harmoniously – from the bathroom to the work area and luggage room – making rooms feel intimate, organized and chic at the same time. Kit Miles fabric pops on a rounded backrest and complements the ’50s art that adorns the walls and the soft accent pillows.
City Connection: Each room offers stunning views, with a custom window seat that allows guests to immerse themselves in the magic of the city. Located above the 15th floor, south-facing rooms offer scenic views of the Empire State Building and 1 World Trade. On the north side, select rooms offer views of Rockefeller Center’s iconic Plaza experiences and beyond to Fifth Avenue.
Suite Luxury: For guests who want to take their stay to the next level, the property features two expansive suites and nine rooms with outdoor terraces. Select suites offer connecting ‘lock-off’ options and pull-out couches for flexibility for families or groups.
RESTAURANTS & BARS
Hospitality titan Apicii operates four different destination concepts that form a diverse collection of dining and bar options. Each restaurant and bar has its own character, but all remain seamlessly connected by the spirit of New York.

The Salon: Now open. This space serves as an all-day meeting place, inspired by the neighborhood bars and cafes of Europe, transitioning from morning espresso and pastries to evening cocktails for a continuous, social atmosphere. The Parlor will also host Kimpton’s signature social hour each evening. The salon is open daily from 6:30 AM to 11:00 PM.
Bar Rocco: Now open. From beloved James Beard Award-winning chef and author Rocco DiSpirito comes Bar Rocco, an Italian-American brasserie, whose name is a playful nod to both the chef and the restaurant’s panoramic view of Rockefeller Plaza. DiSpirito has conceptualized a sophisticated yet approachable Italian-American brasserie, with a market-driven menu based on his frequent visits to regional vegetable markets and long-standing relationships with local farmers and suppliers. Combining sleek design with old-world charm, the space serves as a sophisticated tribute to classic Midtown institutions. Bar Rocco is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Amasa: Available March 2026. Amasa is a Latin steakhouse that celebrates the region’s bold culinary traditions, rich flavors and attention to craftsmanship while offering a dining experience full of soulful hospitality, with a menu by Chef Christopher Loeffl. Bar Amasa is the restaurant’s street-level cantina, serving iconic Latin American cocktails and inspired Mexican tacos.
Jade Rabbit: available in April 2026. The crowning glory of the hotel is an Asian rooftop izakaya with 360-degree views of the city of Manhattan, including Rockefeller Center, Radio City, JP Morgan Building and the Empire State Building, paired with inventive cocktails.
