Kevin Spacey Reveals He’s Homeless After Losing His Baltimore Home $5.6 Million to Foreclosure Amid Costly Legal Battle

Hollywood legend Kevin Spacey has revealed he is homeless, having lost his lavish Baltimore properties to foreclosure while dealing with the mounting costs of legal fees associated with defending himself against a wave of sexual assault allegations.

Spacey, 66, was once one of the most sought-after actors in the industry and enjoyed a string of major blockbuster roles, including appearances in “Se7en” alongside Brad Pitt And Morgan Vrijmanand the sensationally popular political series “House of Cards.”

But after several claims of sexual assault and misconduct were made against him in 2017, the actor became persona non grata in Hollywood — a stigma that has persisted even after he was acquitted of all sexual assault charges by a London court in 2023.

Hollywood’s refusal to work with him during his six-year legal battle to clear his name, coupled with the extraordinary costs of attorneys’ fees, left Spacey in financial trouble, and in July 2024 he lost his palatial Baltimore mansion to foreclosure after failing to meet his $20,000-a-month mortgage payments.

While Spacey initially fought back against the foreclosure of his property, which was purchased by real estate mogul Sam Asgari for $3.2 million, he was eventually forced out of his home – and has struggled to secure another full-time home ever since.

Instead, Spacey relented The TelegraphLiving between Airbnb rentals and hotels, he traveled wherever he could get work, including a nightclub in Cyprus, where he recently performed a musical performance that required audience members to pay up to $1,400 for a ticket.

Speaking to the outlet about his money woes, the actor explained that he lost his home for one very simple reason: “Because the costs have been astronomical over the last seven years. Very little came in and everything went out.”

He added: “I live in hotels, I live in Airbnbs, I go where the work is. I literally don’t have a home, that’s what I’m trying to explain.”

Spacey described his current financial situation as ‘not great’ did managed to avoid a bankruptcy filing, although he admitted this had been ‘discussed’ as an option.

Most of his worldly possessions are currently in storage as he continues to travel for any paying job, although he said he hopes to earn enough money at some point to settle back into a real home.

“You’ll get through it,” he said. “In strange ways I feel like I’m back where I started, which is to say I just went where the work was. Everything is in storage and I hope that at some point, if things continue to improve, I’ll be able to decide where to settle again.”

Spacey’s admission about his money problems comes just over a year after he was forced to move from the Baltimore property he bought for $5.65 million in 2017, the same year he was first accused of sexual misconduct.

At the time, the actor’s representatives strongly denied that he had purchased the house, along with his then-manager, Evan Lowensteinclaiming the apartment belonged to him and not his client.

However, when the property went up for auction, Spacey’s identity as the true owner was confirmed.

Asgari and Spacey soon became embroiled in a bitter feud over the actor’s apparent refusal to leave the property in the aftermath of the auction, with Spacey accusing the real estate mogul of “bullying” him.

Asgari initially came forward to accuse Spacey of refusing to vacate the property, but the “House of Cards” actor came back with his own accusations that Asgari had failed to “comply with the rules applicable to purchasers after a foreclosure sale.”

That feud seemingly came to an end in February of this year when the Baltimore property was put on the market for $5.99 million, indicating that Spacey had vacated the property, leaving it free to find a new owner.

Yet that process would not prove to be easy. After three months on the market, the price of the home was reduced by $1 million, only to be reduced by another $500,000 six weeks later.

Asgari eventually put the property on the rental market with an asking price of $35,000 per month, before taking it off the market entirely earlier this year.

Located in the exclusive Pier Homes in the Harborview community, the impressive five-storey residence is located at the end of a pier and offers stunning views over the harbour.

It is a combination of two townhouses and features six bedrooms, seven bathrooms and three half bathrooms.

Other amenities include a home theater, sauna, elevator, billiards room and chef’s kitchen. Multiple decks, including a 75-foot rooftop terrace with a spa, offer residents the chance to enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding area.

The house also has a garage for four cars.

Spacey first revealed in June 2024 that he was forced to sell the 9,000-square-foot home after being left virtually destitute due to the skyrocketing costs of his legal fees for his 2023 sexual assault trial.

He was acquitted of all charges in the case, but he later admitted this during an interview with Piers Morgan in 2024 that he “still owed many legal bills that he has not been able to pay.”

“My house is being sold at auction. So I have to go back to Baltimore and put all my stuff in storage. … I’m not quite sure where I’m going to live now,” he said during an interview on “Piers Morgan Uncensored.”

Spacey also admitted that he had come close to filing for bankruptcy several times but had “more or less managed to avoid it,” telling Morgan that his plan was to simply “get back on the horse.”

However, his struggle to return to the Hollywood saddle has not been without its challenges – and has led to the actor taking on a much more unique range of jobs, including his singing gig in Cyprus, billed as ‘Kevin Spacey: Songs & Stories’, in which he performed a string of classic hits including ‘That’s Life’ and ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’.

It’s a far cry from the elite status Spacey, who has won two Academy Awards, once enjoyed as one of Hollywood’s most acclaimed talents.

Still, the actor said he’s using this time as an opportunity to explore new career paths, including his passion for music, something he’s never had the chance to really pursue before.

“The idea of combining stories on some level, along with music, and in many cases music that I’ve never done before, songs that I’ve never sung but that I wanted to do — maybe in the shower, but never on a stage,” he said. “So it just happened when I wanted to see: Can I get up and sing again for my dinner?”
