Kevin Federline claims Britney Spears wished her sons were ‘dead’

Kevin Federline will never forget one phone call Britney Spears reportedly had with their son Sean Preston for the past two years.
“During their conversation, she started her usual routine, blaming me, her father and the rest of her family for her problems,” says Federline, 47, wrote in his forthcoming memoir, You thought you knew. “To his credit, Preston confronted her. He called her lies and refused to accept her story. Her response was chilling: she told him she wished he, his brother and I were all dead.”
When Preston, 20, recounted the conversation, Federline said he felt “devastated.”
“How can a mother say that to her son? Preston, who dealt with her vitriol for years, took it better than I did,” Federline wrote. “He understood her anger and instability, but it didn’t make it any less painful. Such trauma left scars that I fear they will carry with them for the rest of their lives.”
Before Federline’s book is published on Tuesday, October 21, Spears’ rep spoke out about the project.
“With the news of Kevin breaking his books, he and others are once again taking advantage of her, and unfortunately this comes after Kevin’s child support has ended,” Spears’ rep said in a statement to Us on Tuesday, October 14. “All she cares about is her children, Sean Preston and Jayden James, and their well-being during this sensationalism.”
Spears’ rep added that the pop star has “chronicled her journey in her memoir,” The woman in mewhich was published in 2023.
Spears, 43, also spoke out online, telling her fans that “relationships with teenage boys [are] complex.”

Listen“The constant gas lighting by [my] ex-husband is extremely hurtful and tiring. I always begged and screamed to have a life with my boys,” she wrote via X on Wednesday, October 15. “I felt demoralized by this situation and always asked and almost begged for them to be part of my life.”
Spears claimed she had only seen one of her sons for 45 minutes in the past five years. The other son is said to have visited the singer four times during that time.
“Believe me, those white lies in that book go straight to the bank and I’m the only one really getting hurt here,” Spears continued. “I will always love them and if you really know me, you won’t pay attention to the tabloids about my mental health and drinking. I’m actually a pretty intelligent woman who has spent the last five years trying to live a holy and private life. I’m speaking out about this because I’ve had enough and any real woman would do the same.”
In his book, Federline wrote that he had to “carefully guide the boys out of the mentality Britney tried to instill in them that everyone else was responsible for her problems.”
“By the time they were teenagers, they began to believe her story,” Federline wrote. “It took countless conversations and a lot of patience to help them see the bigger picture. I never spoke poorly of her; I simply presented the facts.”
In an exclusive interview with UsFederline denied Spears’ claims that his book is strictly speaking a money grab.
‘Money is not the cause of this problem’ he insisted Us on Wednesday. “I feel like if she has the right to tell her story, why not me?”
Spears and Federline were married from 2004 to 2007.
