Kelly Ripa reveals Mark Consuelos called their daughter Lola ‘bad luck’ during her last trip to their $27 million home

When TV presenter Kelly Ripa‘s daughter, LolaWhen she moved to London, she probably expected that every trip back to her childhood home in New York would result in a heartfelt welcome from her parents, until she visited her mom and dad during a particularly tense NFL game.

Kelly, 55, opened up about her child’s final visit to their sprawling New York City mansion during a recent episode of her talk show “Live With Kelly and Mark,” which she co-hosts with her husband, Mark Consuelos.

According to the mother-of-three, while Mark, 54, was thrilled to have Lola, 24, back in the family nest, he wasn’t so happy with her untimely appearance.

“Our daughter is visiting us. We are so happy. There is so much life in the house when she is in the house,” Kelly said of Lola’s return to their $27 million mansion.

However, things went wrong when Kelly and Lola – who moved to Britain in the autumn of 2023 – made the mistake of walking into the room where Mark was watching his favorite football team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneersagainst the San Francisco 49ers.

“Lola and I walked in while Mark was watching the game, and something bad happened,” Kelly revealed, before admitting that she wasn’t exactly sure what that bad thing was because she “wasn’t paying attention.”

According to Kelly, Mark determined that their entry into the room at the exact moment his team made a mistake meant they were “bad luck”, despite the family patriarch angrily denying ever making such a comment.

‘Someone said it! That we were unlucky when we walked into the room,” Kelly insisted, before admitting that she was actually very happy to have an excuse to do something other than watch a football match.

“So then we took the cue to leave, and I thought, ‘Don’t tempt me with a good time. I don’t mind leaving and not watching this game.'”

In the end, Mark’s team emerged victorious, winning the match 30-19, and he joked to viewers that “everything was great” once his wife and daughter left the room.

“So basically I was in control of the game,” Kelly teased, to which Mark replied: “That’s right. I appreciate that.”

Although Kelly and (maybe?) Mark seem thrilled to have Lola back home, they have previously admitted that they love being empty nesters and having their place all to themselves.

Kelly even went so far as to admit that being naked in her home “anywhere you want” is her favorite part of empty nester life, as she opened up about how her life changed after her children moved out of the family’s $27 million mansion in New York.

During a previous episode of ‘Live With Kelly and Mark’, Kelly held nothing back as she described the ‘freak show’ aspects of her life with Mark, admitting that the couple enjoyed the freedom they got when their three children…Michael27, Lola, and Joaquin22 – left the nest.

Kelly and Mark became empty nesters this year when their youngest son graduated from the University of Michigan and moved out of the couple’s mansion, a milestone the mother of three opened up about while reassuring the actress. Amanda Pete that sending kids to college isn’t all bad.

Peet, 53, who shares children Frances18, Molly14, and Henry10, with her husband, David Benioffadmitted she was experiencing extreme nerves about the idea of sending her eldest off to college in the fall, telling Kelly, “I don’t want to cry.”

Kelly was quick to reassure her guest, emphasizing that while saying goodbye to your first child can be a “shock” she quickly learned to enjoy the benefits of living in a home without children.

“Let me just say this,” Kelly said. “The first is a bit of a shock. Each time, like the second, is ‘no problem.’ Third, for 24 to 48 hours, you’ll say, ‘Oh my God, what have we done now? Now it’s just us.’

“And then your whole life becomes nudity in the household wherever you want,” Kelly joked as her husband smiled next to her.

With his mouth open, Peet replied: “Wow, good to know!”

“Always a total freak show,” Kelly admitted.

The couple previously revealed they were “done” when their youngest son graduated from college.

“Anyway, we just got back from Ann Arbor, MI, where our newborn graduated from college. That’s right, we’re done!” Kelly said in an episode that aired earlier in May.

The married “Live With Kelly and Mark” hosts moved into the Upper East Side home 13 years ago — after purchasing the palatial property for a whopping $27 million and offloading their former SoHo home for an impressive $20 million.

Kelly told me earlier Architectural summary that she knew immediately that the mansion was meant for them.

“I thought, ‘It’s perfect, just give me my toothbrush,’” Kelly said. “We’ve moved several times in our lives, but no matter where we go, this is my forever home. When I walked in here, I thought, ‘This is the last place I’ll live.’ I love this house so much.”

However, Mark wanted to add some personal touches to the house to suit their specific tastes. The couple tapped designers William Sofield And Emma O’Neillfrom Studio Sofield, to bring to life their vision of 1920s and 1930s French glamour.

The result is a mix of art deco and modern style, with the duo breathing new life into vintage pieces, such as using double wardrobes as storage for sports equipment and hiding their shoes in a custom-designed cupboard.

The couple noted that they have done little to change the mansion since its initial transformation in 2013.

Kelly, a longtime host of a syndicated daytime talk show, has visited numerous co-hosts during her time in the house. She first appeared on the show with Regis Philbin in 2001, after which he anchored the series solo for a year. In 2012 she welcomed Michael Strahan as her sidekick. Ryan Seacrest took over as co-host in 2017. Finally, in 2023, Mark was announced as co-host of the show for his wife.

The couple first met on the set of the soap opera ‘All My Children’ in the 1990s.
