Kamala Harris Performs ‘SNL’ Cold Open and Takes a Shot at Donald Trump
Kamala Harris took a break from serious campaigning to have some lighthearted fun… and received raucous applause on the last “Saturday Night Live” before the election.
The VP stopped by Studio 8H at 30 Rockefeller Plaza for the cold open Saturday night… and appeared in the mirror opposite Maya Rudolf — which the veep has been portraying on and off since 2020.
You’ll have to watch the clip for yourself… after a fairly generic opening with Dana Carvey, Andy Samberg and other “SNL” stars playing their usual characters, MR says she just wants to chat with someone who understands what she’s going through — a Black and Southeast Asian woman and former prosecutor running for the U.S. presidential election.
Of course, that frame is just her… so the real Kamala appears in the mirror and says, “You and me both, sister” – a sentence that is completely drowned out by the huge cheers from the audience.
Kamala fires a shot at Donald Trump saying that Maya’s Kamala can totally win the election because she can do things her opponent can’t…namely open doors. It’s a reference to DJT’s trouble opening the door of the garbage truck he was driving around earlier this week.
The silly skit then transitions into a back-and-forth conversation between the Kamalas… who rhyme their name with a bunch of common words and phrases – like “pajamas” instead of pajamas and “Keep Calmala and Carry Onala” in instead of “Keep calm and carry on.”
The sketch ends with the two arm-in-arm… launching the show with the iconic phrase “Live from New York, It’s Saturday night” – before the host John Mulaney took the stage to deliver his monologue.
Kamala had a busy day… speaking at a meeting in Atlanta this morning – and while en route to Detroit for some last-minute campaign events, Air Force 2 was diverted to New York for this appearance, a surprise to the press on board according to some reports.
After the sudden change in schedule, many expected KH to appear on ‘SNL’… and honestly, she did not disappoint!
