Kamala Harris DNC Speech Ratings: 26.2 million viewers

The fourth and final night of the Democratic National Convention averaged 26.2 million viewers, boosted by a speech by presidential candidate Kamala Harris, during which viewers peaked at 28.9 million.

That represents a significant improvement over the stable viewership of the first three evenings: Nielsen estimated that 20 million people tuned in on Monday, followed by 20.8 million on Tuesday and 20.2 million on Wednesday.

Overall, the DNC was viewed more broadly than the Republican National Convention. The final night of the RNC averaged 24.5 million viewers, peaking at 28.4 million during Donald Trump’s speech — just below Harris’ peak. The RNC opened with 18.1 million viewers on the first night, then dropped to 14.8 million on the second night and rose again to 18 million on the third night.

Of Thursday’s average of 26.2 million, 1.4 million were between the ages of 18 and 34, up from 968,000 the night before.

Each estimate covers a wide range of networks. Monday includes ABC, CBS, NBC, Scripps News, Univision, CNN, CNNe, FOX Business, FOX News Channel, MSNBC, Newsmax, NewsNation and PBS, while Tuesday and Wednesday include the same minus Univision. Thursday’s estimate includes Univision, Telemundo and each of the other networks previously measured.

“In many ways, Donald Trump is an unserious man,” Harris said during her speech. “But the consequences of putting Donald Trump back in the White House are extremely serious to consider. This election is not only the most important of our lives. It is one of the most important in the life of our nation.”
