Justin Trudeau buys a Canadian home worth $3.1 million: will it be his and Katy Perry’s new love nest?

Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has donated more than $3.1 million for a sprawling estate in Montreal’s exclusive Outremont neighborhood — and got his girlfriend’s seal of approval Katya Perry.
Trudeau, 54, closed on the nearly century-old stone home on Feb. 16 after securing a mortgage through the Bank of Montreal, as first reported by the Daily mail.
The prestigious property features seven bedrooms, five bathrooms, a sophisticated office and a lavish ballroom built for the party of Trudeau’s dreams.
It extends over 4,965 square meters and is situated on a 13,672 square meter plot, hidden by a metal fence, mature trees and various shrubs, making it the perfect romantic hideaway for Trudeau and Perry, 41, who started dating in July 2025.
The north side of the home comes complete with a driveway and enclosed path, while the south side has a two-car garage and stone steps.
The house was initially offered by a real estate agent Joseph Montanaro Last year for $3.3 million.
Trudeau is reportedly carrying out extensive renovations on the property. According to Reality teaContractors were present in the home.
The outlet further claimed that former Canadian Prime Minister Perry gave a tour of the home.
He bought the house from Nicholas Ruggieriwho is the leader of the real estate section at Batipart Invest.
Ruggieri purchased the property in 2023 for $3.9 million Marc DeSerres.
The property’s annual taxes total an estimated $28,000.
Trudeau left his position as prime minister in March 2025 after ten years in office.
During his last year in office, he earned $299,000. Next year he will receive an annual pension of $192,537. When he turns 67, he will also receive an extra old-age benefit.

The ‘Firework’ hitmaker and Trudeau confirmed their relationship in October when they stepped out hand-in-hand at a cabaret show in Paris.
They first sparked dating rumors in July when they enjoyed a meal together in Montreal, just a month after Perry’s split from her fiancé was revealed. Orlando Bloom.
At the time, neither party commented on the rumors of a budding romance, but those rumors now seem to have been cemented as lore after the duo strolled out of the famous Crazy Horse Paris, where they celebrated Perry’s birthday, according to TMZ.
Photos taken of the couple show them both beaming from ear to ear, with Perry looking down at the toy in a figure-hugging red dress, while Trudeau donned an all-black suit.
Their confirmation of their romance came just months after they were first photographed together at Canadian hotspot Le Violon, where they enjoyed several cocktails and delicious-sounding dishes.
According to TMZ, the couple met the chef after their dinner and were so delighted that they even went back to the kitchen to thank the staff.
Security guards kept a close eye on the duo through the glass as they leaned in for conversation and enjoyed their meal.
The confirmation of their relationship comes just months after it was revealed that Perry and Bloom, 48, called it quits after nine years together.
Bloom, who shares a daughter, Daisy Dovewith Perry, later broke his silence about their divorce and told the host to “Today.” Craig Melvin during an interview in September that everything between them is “great”.
“I’m doing great, man. I’m so grateful,” he said when asked how he was doing after the “personal changes” in his life.
“We have the most beautiful daughter. You know when you leave everything on the field, like I did in this movie? I’m grateful for it.”

His comments came after insiders shared some insight into Perry and Bloom’s plans to raise their 5-year-old daughter together, claiming the former couple aims to remain completely “amicable” for the sake of their child.
“Katy and Orlando have split but are amicable,” a source said We weekly. “It’s not contentious at this point. Katy is obviously upset, but is relieved that she won’t have to go through another divorce because that was the worst time of her life.”
“They are still in close contact and taking care of Daisy together,” a second insider added, noting that Bloom and Perry both plan to continue living in Montecito, CA, in an effort to ensure Daisy’s life is as unaffected by their divorce as possible.
“They are not making drastic changes for Daisy’s sake. They will maintain their lives in Montecito. They are prioritizing stability and consistency for Daisy,” the unnamed source added.
The couple started dating in 2016 after meeting at a Golden Globes after-party where they fought over an In ‘N’ Out burger, the singer previously revealed during an episode of “American Idol.”
As Perry’s relationship with Trudeau continues to blossom, the couple can settle into the new home the former prime minister purchased.
Trudeau, who divorced his wife, Sophie Gregoire Trudeaushares three children with his estranged husband in August 2023, all of whom are currently said to be living with their mother in Montreal.

In the wake of the Trudeaus’ divorce, it was reported that the children would live with their mother but their father would see them regularly, with a spokesperson for the former prime minister saying, “Both parents will be a constant presence in their children’s lives and Canadians can expect to see the family together often.”
Meanwhile, Perry’s life revolves largely around Montecito, where she and Bloom met two individual mega-mansions within a few months — one of which has undergone major renovations since they bought it for $14.2 million in 2020.
It is unclear who will take full ownership of the property; however, records from Realtor.com® show that only Perry’s name is currently on the deed.
As for their other home – which is just a six-minute drive away – it is understood that neither Bloom nor Perry currently occupy it, with reports suggesting it has been rented out to another A-list couple: Chris Pratt And Katherine Schwarzenegger.
According to the Daily Mail, the duo moved into Perry’s home earlier this summer and plan to stay there until work is completed on their own custom mega-mansion in Brentwood.
The house in question has been the center of a number of controversies – and was the source of a furious legal battle between Perry and the home’s former owner, veteran Carl Westcott.
