Julie Bowen reveals costar Sofia Vergara’s daring gift for the modern family

(Photo by Getty)Modern families Julie Bowen is the first to admit that she and former costar, Sofia Vergaracouldn’t be more different – and their opposing personalities have led to some hilarious moments.
The actress, 54, recalled once receiving a daring gift from Vergara, 52, after the Griselda star discovered Bowen’s taste in underwear.
“We are absolutely, completely different,” Bowen says told E! News in an interview published on Friday, September 13. “I like to wear the baggiest, chunkiest underwear and show it to her, and she says, ‘Why are you wearing that, please?'”
Bowen continued, “She left me little thong underwear in my trailer, and I was like, ‘What is this? What is this little piece of cloth?’ Because she wants me to be more of a woman.”

While their personalities may be worlds apart, Bowen insisted she and Vergara “get along like a house on fire,” despite rumors of a feud still plaguing the pair.
‘She’s confident, she’s funny. I will never understand why there is such a scarcity mentality about women,” Bowen told the newspaper as she addressed the ongoing feud speculation. “It’s like if two or more people come together, they either have to be witches in a coven or they have to hate each other. Guess what? We are witches.”
Bowen previously brushed off speculation about a possible rivalry between the pair when she appeared on the “I Choose Me” podcast in August and criticized false tabloid reports.

She added, “I love Sofía, and I love how different we are, and I love that she’s funny, self-effacing and bawdy, and she loves life and she loves dancing and eating cake, and all these things.’

Recently, Bowen has stood by Vergara during her highly publicized breakup with her husband Joe Manganiello. The former couple announced their divorce in July 2023 after seven years of marriage.
Speak with We weekly in November 2023, Bowen said Vergara’s loved ones had supported the star following the marriage’s breakup.
“She gets a lot of love and support. She has never been close to her family and friends,” Bowen told Us Weekly exclusively in November. “So when there’s a bump in the road, everyone circles the wagons and we love her extra hard. But I have to be honest, she’s great. She is doing great.”
