Jon Stewart Says Trump Is Acting Like ‘Grandpa Who Lost His Filter’

On this week’s episode of “The Daily Show,” Jon Stewart attacked President Donald Trump for his lack of focus during the United States’ war with Iran.
“You know, honestly, his leering behavior is less ‘commander in chief at war’ and more ‘grandpa who lost his filter in public,’” Stewart joked about Trump’s recent behavior. “Instead of calming a nervous nation, he simply embarrasses the entire family at dinner by saying, ‘Hey, see our waitress is busty! Just like your grandma was.'”
Regardless of how Trump behaves, the late-night pundit claimed the president’s “loyal henchman” will do everything he can to “assure you that this is truly the opposite of everything you’re seeing.”
Stewart then transitioned to a clip of Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. at the Conservative Political Action Conference last weekend. During his onstage interview, he said Trump has “encyclopedic, molecular knowledge,” recalling a time when the president drew a “perfect map” of the Middle East on a placemat and “put the troop strength of every country on every border on that map.”
“Has anyone thought about filming that? Let’s see,” Stewart said. “Because that’s not what we see. What we see is a president four weeks into a war that he has yet to fully explain, with objectives he has yet to fully define, and who is only exhibiting molecular knowledge in a cabinet meeting of his own pen preferences.”
The show then cut to a clip of Trump at a Cabinet meeting telling his administration about the time he gave out “$1,000 pens” to his supporters.
“They were $1,000 each, nice pen, biro, $1,000, it was gold, silver, beautiful,” Trump said in the clip. “But I hand out to kids who don’t even know what… ‘What is this, mom?’ There are kids, they get a pen for $1,000. They have no idea what it is.”
“That’s a cabinet meeting during a goddamn war,” Stewart exclaimed. “You know, all we keep hearing from this administration is why the American people must sacrifice for Trump’s vision of America’s greatness. That these temporary disruptions are just part of the process, and why can’t we be patriots? We have to be patient, we have to suck it up, whether it’s high gas prices or erratic tariff inflation or draconian ICE raids or temporary suspensions of privileges. It’s up to us to understand, but Trump is becoming the same old, “Aren’t I a stinker,” completely self-centered, “Remember when I wanted to fuck hot girls myself.”
