Johnny Depp’s Lawyer Camille Vasquez Reveals Why She ‘Never Dated Him’

Vasquez, 40, shared Extra during an interview published on Friday, November 1 that the 2022 rumors of a romance between the couple, which were confirmed by We weekly which were false at the time were unfounded.
“I would never do that,” Vasquez told the newspaper when questioned about dating the Pirates of the Caribbean star. ‘Let me go on record here for a moment. Never dated Johnny Depp. Would never date Johnny Depp. I think he’s a nice person. He’s not my type.”
Vasquez, who worked on the case of Depp, 61, versus Heard, 38, for four years, added that after meeting Depp for the first time, she realized they were very different.
“I remember maybe after I was thirty [or] When I talked to him for forty minutes, I remember having an out-of-body experience and looking at him and thinking, “He sees the world so differently than I do.” He definitely uses a different part of his brain, he’s such an artist,” Vasquez told the outlet.
Vasquez added that she hasn’t seen Depp “to this day” as Captain Jack Sparrow in the film Pirates franchise and only knew him through his role in ‘maybe Chocolate?”
After Us reported in May 2022 that rumors of a romance were untrue, People reported in June of that year that Vasquez was “disappointed” when he learned of speculation surrounding her relationship with Depp. “It is also an unethical accusation. It’s sexist,” she told the outlet. “It’s a shame and disappointing, but at the same time it’s part of the territory. I can’t say I was that surprised.”
Vasquez continued at the time: “I care deeply about my clients, and we have definitely become closer. But when I say we, I mean the whole team, and of course that includes Johnny. And I’m Cuban and Colombian. I am tactile. What do you want me to say? I hug everyone. And I’m not ashamed of that.”
During Depp’s defamation trial against Heard – which started on April 11, 2022 and ended on May 27, 2022 – Vasquez made headlines with her no-nonsense style of questioning.

Heard identified herself as a victim of domestic violence in 2018 WashingtonPost op-ed. Although Heard did not mention Depp by name in the piece, Depp (who was married to the actress for 15 months from 2015 to 2016) claimed that her allegations of violence had damaged his career and reputation.
The jury awarded Depp $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages. Heard, meanwhile, was awarded $2 million in damages in her counterclaim against Depp.
Although Vasquez and Depp were not a romantic match, the actor is said to have had a brief relationship with a fellow lawyer Joelle Rijkas confirmed by Us in September 2022. Rich represented Depp in his British defamation case against The sun at the time.
