Jimmy Kimmel sets up Emmys Billboard for Stephen Colbert

In an unprecedented representation of solidarity in the industry, Jimmy Kimmel founded a billboard at the intersection with a lot of traffic of Santa Monica Boulevard and La Cienega in West Hollywood, where he encouraged Emmy voters to support “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” for excellent Talk series for excellent Talk series.

The strategically placed advertisement contains a simple but powerful message: “I vote for Stephen.” The billboard serves as a gesture of support for fellow Late-Night host host Stephen Colbert and a pointed comment on the recent cancellation of CBS of “The Late Show”.

CBS canceled the Colbert program last month after the merger of Paramount Global with Skydance Media. The newly formed entity mentioned cost -saving measures as the primary reason to end the long -term series, a decision that has generated a considerable controversy within the entertainment industry.

The cancellation comes at a critical moment for ‘The Late Show’, which is confronted with the last chance of Emmy recognition. Since the debut in 2015, the CBS program has collected 33 Emmy nominations in different categories, making it the second most nominated show in Primetime Emmy history to never win a prize-all amc’s “Better Call Saul”, which went 0-out-53 during the six-sea run.

This year’s Talk Series category contains “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” In addition to ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” And comedy Central’s ‘The Daily Show’. The category represents one of the only 15 Emmy categories determined by the entire membership of the television academy, thereby strengthening the impact of Kimmel’s public approval.

The location of the Billboard – located in the vicinity of large entertainment offices and inside blocks of the headquarters of the television academy – provides maximum visibility at Emmy voters. Werelaars in the industry regard the gesture as more than collegiality and interpret it as a commentary on the broader challenges with which traditional Late-Night programming is confronted in an evolving media landscape.
