Jimmy Kimmel rips Melania Trump documentary as ‘bribe’ from Amazon

Jimmy Kimmel always takes aim at Donald Trump in his monologues on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” but his latest monologue took aim at Trump’s wife Melania ahead of the opening of her eponymous documentary in theaters nationwide. Directed by Brett Ratner, “Melania” is distributed by Amazon MGM and follows the First Lady in the 20 days leading up to Donald Trump’s second presidential inauguration.
“According to writer Michael Wolff, Melania is extremely angry that the Minneapolis murders are overshadowing the release of the $75 million bribe – I mean, a documentary – that Amazon made for her,” Kimmel joked, referring to the Podcast ‘Inside Trump’s head’ in which Wolff claimed that Melania is “really pissed” that the national response to ICE brutality in Minnesota is taking away from her documentary release’s publicity.
Kimmel then tossed to a clip of Melania promoting the documentary on Fox News, where the First Lady sent a message to divided Americans, saying, “We must unite. I call for unity.”
“Oh great, Melania calls for unity,” Kimmel joked. “Either that, or she orders tea. ‘Do you need tea?'”
Kimmel then mocked Melania for promoting the movie by saying how much her family loves it. The First Lady claimed on Fox News that Donald Trump “loved it” and called it a “must see.”
“Well, for him it is one must Look,” Kimmel fired back, claiming that the only reason Trump had to watch the movie is because it’s about his wife. “I guess he watched the first eight minutes and fell asleep in his popcorn bucket.”
Melania also said that Barron Trump “is in the movie and liked it too,” prompting Kimmel to sarcastically say, “Her son and her husband liked it. All the people in the movie are giving it rave reviews. That’s enough for me!”
According to the documentary’s official synopsis, the film gives viewers the chance to “step into the world of Melania Trump as she orchestrates inauguration plans, navigates the complexities of the White House transition, and re-enters public life with her family.” The studio adds that the film contains “exclusive footage” of “critical meetings” and “private conversations.”
Ratner’s “Melania” opens in theaters on January 30 via Amazon. Watch Kimmel’s latest monologue in the video below.
