Ji Chang-wook and Mio Imada Star in Disney+ RomCom ‘Merry Berry Love’

Korean star Ji Chang-wook and Japanese actor Mio Imada will lead the cast of the cross-cultural romantic comedy “Merry Berry Love” (working title), premiering on Disney+ in 2026.
The series follows a struggling Korean spatial designer and a strawberry farmer as they discover romance on a remote Japanese island. The project marks the first collaboration between Korean entertainment giant CJ ENM and Japan’s Nippon TV.
Disney+ unveiled the title on Thursday during the originals preview event at the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort. The series is currently in production at locations in Korea and Japan.
Changwook (“The Manipulated,” “The Worst of Evil”) plays spatial designer Lee Yubin, while Imada (“Tokyo Revengers”) plays strawberry farmer Karin Shirahama. Kim Soojung (“Semantic Error”) directs from a script by Lee Jaeyoon (“Divorce Insurance”).
CJ ENM (“Parasite,” “Queen of Tears”) serves as developer and producer, while Nippon TV (“Mother,” “Woman”) co-produces. The series will air on Nippon TV in Japan and stream globally on Disney+ in 2026 as part of the strategic partnership between Nippon Television Holdings and The Walt Disney Company (Japan).
The Disney+ Originals preview showcased Japanese, Korean and global series running on the platform through 2026 and beyond, with appearances from entertainment figures from Hollywood, Korea and Japan.
Nippon TV is one of Japan’s leading multiplatform entertainment companies and owner of the Hulu streaming service in Japan. The company owns nearly 90% of its content IP and is active in international distribution through anime, formats and co-production partnerships. One of their biggest successes is the Emmy-winning format “Dragons’ Den”/”Shark Tank”.
