Arvad, at the time 28, met the future president, at the time only 24 in Washington, DC in 1941. Arvad had put in films in Hollywood in films before he “bored” with the glitter and glamor and instead turn to journalism.
According to author J. Randy Taraborrelli, this career switch allowed her to slightly cover the engagement of Nazi Hermann, and she was able to attend his wedding, where she crossed paths with Hitler. The tyrant was so charmed by Arvad, he would eventually allow her to interview three different occasions.
Arvad even accompanied Hitler to the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin and was in his private box, and also accepted a personal photo he gave her of himself. Hitler thought that Arvad “was the most perfect example of the Northern beauty,” Taraborbrelli writes in his book, and she was tried to be a spy for his Third Reich.
