They married in 2014, and friends have long credited Johnson with helping the ditzy blonde through a harrowing drinking addiction that she reportedly kicked in 2017.

But Simpson sparked fears of a relapse in 2022 when she appeared to slur her words in a video ad for Pottery Barn, and in her few public appearances over the past year she appeared confused at times.

An insider added: “Eric has been dealing with a lot of baggage from Jessica for a long time.

‘One minute she’s screaming for Joy, then she starts crying and hides in a bedroom for a day.

‘They both really want the best for their children, but as far as their marriage is concerned, you fear it is only a matter of time. Eric is at his breaking point.”
