Jack Black sings about ‘SNL’ Return in Opening Monologue

Jack Black is organizing “Saturday Night Live” for the first time in almost 20 years – and he started tonight’s episode with a song about his return.
Black started his opening monologue by announcing jokes that he stopped the hosting performance. “I know it is the first time that a host has stopped in the middle of the monologue. But that is quite cool – it’s the first time it ever happened,” he told the audience.
A guitar riff then started playing in the background, and Black was handed over a microphone and immediately gave him the ‘strength to host again’. He walked on stage before he went together: “I’m back! I’m back on ‘Saturday Night Live’. Jack Black! I organize ‘Saturday Night Live’ again. Twenty years ago I organized this Freakin ‘Show.”
Black mentioned various projects that he had worked in the song during those 20 years, including ‘Jumanji’, ‘Kung Fu Panda’, ‘Nacho Libre’ and ‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie ‘, in which he expressed Bowser. He was also accompanied by a marching band, which appeared behind the audience in the studio.
This marks Black’s fourth time that the Late-Night Sketch Comedy Show is hosted. The actor promotes his latest film, “A Minecraft Movie”, based on the Sandbox video game multi-platform.
At the premiere of “Minecraft Movie” on March 30 in London, Black said Variety About how he felt about his “SNL” refund. “You just know, having many nightmares and nocturnal horrors and also good memories that flow back. It’s crazy, very exciting,” he said.
