Jacada’s Positive Impact collection expands with new properties | News

Jacada Travel, a leader in positive impact luxury travel, has expanded its Positive Impact Collection to include 14 notable properties, expanding its reach to four new regions: Norway, Seychelles, Argentina and the Maldives. The additions show that, when done carefully, travel can have a positive impact on a destination.

Launching in 2024, the Positive Impact Collection showcases lodges, camps and hotels that make sustainability and meaningful support of social and environmental issues a core element of their business. To be included in the collection, each property has undergone a rigorous evaluation process, following a strict, proprietary methodology. This assessment is benchmarked against the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Jacada’s own Positive Impact Principles, ensuring every addition meets the highest standards.

From geothermally heated retreats in Norway’s Sunnfjord to nature conservation centers in the Maldives, the latest additions illustrate how luxury and innovation can go hand in hand. At Åmot, guesthouses contribute to the historic site restoration fund and UNESCO-supported youth programs. Alphonse Island Lodge in the Seychelles directly contributes to the country’s longest running turtle monitoring projects and supports the Seychelles Marine Spatial Plan, which protects 30% of the country’s waters. In Argentina, Awasi Iguazú supports jaguar conservation and collaborates with the Instituto Esperanza, jointly designing internships for students with additional needs. Finally, guests at Six Senses Laamu in the Maldives support the Maldives Underwater Initiative, which funds critical marine research and conservation efforts.

Elsewhere in the Positive Impact Collection, there are three new additions in Africa: House in the Wild and Sarara Treehouse, both in Kenya, and Thorntree River Lodge in Zambia. There are four in Latin America: Hotel AWA in Chile, Pousada Literária in Paraty, Brazil, and Galápagos Safari Camp and Mashpi Lodge, both in Ecuador. Finally, there are three properties in Asia, including Zannier Phum Baitang in Cambodia, and Six Senses Côn Đảo and Six Senses Ninh Van Bay, both in Vietnam.

This expansion is in line with a growing shift in travelers’ preference for responsible travel. According to Jacada’s 2025 customer survey, responsible travel remains a key driver in travel planning, with bookings to newly represented regions soaring: Ecuador is up 60%, Zambia is up 22% and Vietnam has seen a 26% increase.

“This year we added 14 new properties to our Positive Impact Collection and we are excited to expand to four new countries: Norway, Argentina, Maldives and Seychelles, giving our guests more options than ever to make conscious and impactful choices about where they stay,” said Natalie Lyall-Grant, Head of Positive Impact at Jacada. “With data and transparency as the guiding compass of our impact strategy, this year we partnered with Hotel Resilient to help us measure what matters, improve accountability, and ensure that every property in our collection has a real, verifiable positive impact. As in previous years, the selected properties had to demonstrate an outstanding commitment to sustainability and prove meaningful support of social and environmental initiatives. While we recognize that tourism still comes with an environmental cost, these properties represent what is possible when travel is approached with a regenerative lens, making a positive contribution to the places we visit.”

Alex Malcolm, founder of Jacada, said: “We are thrilled to add 14 remarkable properties to the collection, spanning a variety of different destinations from the Maldives to Norway. These partners prove that the most rewarding travel experiences happen when the true spirit of hospitality, generosity and care is extended to everyone involved: from the guests to the communities and places they visit.”
