It’s not too late to bring Nancy back

Savannah Guthrie started working on it Instagram to share another message with her mother’s kidnapper on Sunday afternoon. She calmly told the perpetrator that it is “never too late to do the right thing.”

“It’s been two weeks since our mother was kidnapped, and I just wanted to say that we still have hope and we still believe,” she said. “And I just wanted to say to anyone who has her or knows where she is that it’s never too late, and that you’re not lost or alone, and that it’s never too late to do the right thing.”

She added: “We are here. We believe. And we believe in the essential goodness of every human being, and it is never too late.”

Nancy Guthrie went missing on February 1, and the next day the Pima County Sheriff’s Department declared her disappearance a crime after finding “concerning” evidence at her Arizona residence. On Friday evening, authorities said investigators were searching Nancy Guthrie’s home and surrounding area for clues.

On Thursday, the FBI announced it had increased the reward from $50,000 to $100,000 for anyone with information leading to Nancy Guthrie’s location. The agency also released identifying information about the suspect who was caught on camera trying to break into Nancy Guthrie’s home. The possible kidnapper was described as “a male, approximately 6 feet to 6 feet tall, with a medium build. In the video he is wearing a black 50 gallon ‘Ozark Trail Hiker Pack’ backpack.”

Pima County police arrested one person Tuesday for questioning in connection with the case. Authorities told ABC News they were preparing to search a location in connection with the detainee. The person was later released.
