The stunning claim was made in a critically acclaimed and authoritative book about the group called One Two Three Four: The Beatles In Time by Craig Brown.

It came out in 2020, but sections about the dentist have resurfaced on fan blogs as they unravel The Beatles’ history ahead of the 65th anniversary of the band’s founding next year.

In an interview with the book’s author, the late Beatles guitarist George HarrisonPattie Boyd, the woman’s ex-wife, shared her fears that Riley was a deranged pervert.

Boyd, 80, says Riley – whose father was a Metropolitan Police officer – used to knock out the musicians in his dentist’s chair, no matter how minor the procedure.

The former model added that Riley Harrison once dosed so heavily with a sedative in his chair that he was forced to wake the guitarist by punching him in the face.

Boyd was furious with the dentist: ‘Whatever he would put in our mouths, he would give us intravenous Valium.

“All Beatles went to him and we assumed this had happened – no one questioned it.

Craig Brown’s book – hailed as the definitive history of the record-breaking band – reveals that Riley Harrison saw the most out of all the Beatles, as his teeth looked the worst in the days when the group began to achieve major success after playing stone club The Cavern Club in their native Liverpool.

It adds that Harrison struck up such a friendship with his suspected assailant that he was instrumental in inviting the dentist on holiday with The Beatles.

“George’s teeth required particular attention; photos from the Cavern era show them to be irregular and rickety.

During the latter part of 1963 and 1964, he became such a frequent visitor to Riley’s clinic that the two men struck up a friendship of sorts, sometimes going out together.

“In February 1965, the Beatles even invited Riley to the Bahamas to keep them company while they were filming Staff!

Brown added that Boyd – who was also worked on by Riley – “never felt completely comfortable in his presence – especially when he was lying back in his dental chair with her mouth wide open”.

Riley – who died in a car crash in Ireland in 1986 – was previously dubbed The Beatles’ “bad dentist” as he infamously gave John Lennon, George Harrison and their partners acid at a dinner party without their knowledge.

Harrison, who died of lung cancer in 2001 at the age of 58, gave Riley the sinister nickname “bad dentist” after the drug incident, but the guitarist refused to mention him in interviews.

He revealed that he later suspected that the dentist had drugged them because he wanted to “get something going” and fantasized that the drugs would lead to a “big gang bang” in which “he was going to fuck everyone – I really think that was his thing was’. motive”.

Boyd says in Brown’s book about The Beatles that Riley – whose other clients included the comedian Dudley Moore – gave them a super-strong dose of LSD in their after-dinner coffee after a dinner at his home.

Brown adds in his book: “In April 1965, Riley and his girlfriend Cyndy, whose job it was to hire the bunny girls for the Playboy Club, invited John Lennon and his wife Cynthia, along with George and Pattie, to dinner at his house in Bayswater in April 1965.

“We had a delicious meal and plenty to drink,” Pattie remembers.

As the dinner came to an end, George and Pattie got up to leave and explained that they planned to see Klaus Voorman and his new back play at the Pickwick Club, just off Leicester Square.

“As Pattie remembers it, Cyndy then said, ‘You haven’t had coffee yet. I made it – and it’s delicious.’

“So they sat down and drank their coffee. Then John made another attempt to leave, explaining that Klaus had to leave soon.

“‘No, we don’t.’ ‘Yes, it was in the coffee.'”

Brown said the LSD hit Riley, Cynthia, Harrison, Boyd and their sneaky host Cyndy Bury “like big waves.”

Boyd said: “John told them we had been enriched. The effect of the medicine became stronger and stronger, and we were all hysterical and crazy. When we sat down, the table got longer.”

It took eight hours for the LSD to wear off, and Cynthia told the others that she sat terrified all night because of her hallucinations of moving walls and talking plants, with people who looked like ghosts floating before her eyes.

Brown added: “George and Pattie have promised never to visit Riley again. No one wants a hip dentist, any more than they want a brain surgeon with butterfingers.’

But both Harrison and Lennon soon moved on to trying LSD again – with Lennon’s obsession with the hallucinogen helping to drive a wedge between him and Cynthia – who tried the drug only twice after Riley spiked them with it.

McCartney and Starr then had their first LSD experiences during the group was on tour in 1965.

It is said that Lennon and Harrison’s experience with Riley inspired songs on the album Revolver about tripping.
