Invincible Video Game Adds Cecil (Gaming News Roundup)

New updates have been revealed about Skybound Entertainment’s upcoming video game “Invincible VS,” including the addition of Cecil Stedman, a fan-favorite character from Robert Kirkman’s comics and Amazon’s “Invincible” TV series, to the 3v3 tag fighting game.
So far, “Invincible VS” has now revealed eight characters that will be included in the fighter: Mark Grayson (Invincible), Atom Eve, Bulletproof, Thula, Rex Splode, Battle Beast, Omni-Man and Cecil.
According to the description from Skybound Entertainment and Quarter Up: “Cecil is a fan favorite from the ‘Invincible’ TV series and comic books and is one of the most requested playable characters. Usually heard as a voice in Mark’s earpiece, Cecil goes into battle in Invincible VS with specialized weapons including plasma pistols, projectile launchers and grenades to keep opponents at bay. His ranged gameplay style involves tactical combat, allowing him to play cat-and-mouse with enemies. Do you want more? Cecil can also summon an unlimited supply of Reanimen as backup; With access to The Hammer – a massive orbital laser – he is a devastating force on the battlefield.
Additionally, “Invincible VS” developers and Kirkman on Thursday revealed new details about the game’s story mode, which “plays like a special extended episode of the show, featuring every announced playable character to date – and teasing the arrival of a brand new character who hasn’t appeared anywhere in the Invincible Universe.”
“I’m very involved in the game, but one of the great things about this team is that they continually impress me with the little facts they work with in the game and the details and the balance and everything is just right,” Kirkman said. Variety in an interview on September 30 related to the Cecil news. “This game is made by fans of the ‘Invincible’ series and fans of the ‘Invincible’ comic books to the point where sometimes they remind me of things I’ve forgotten, and that’s not something I’m proud of, but it does happen.”
“Invincible VS” will launch in 2026 on Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 5 and PC.
