Indian Crime Thriller ‘Suzhal – The Vortex’ Sets Season 2 Return
Prime Video India dives back into the mysterious world of Kaalipattanam with “Suzhal – The Vortex” season 2.
The second season of the acclaimed Tamil-Taal crime thriller promises to unravel a new mystery against the background of the visually striking Ashkakaali festival. The series continues where the climatic final of the first season had gone, with the character of Aishwarya Rajesh Nandini behind bars that are confronted with an uncertain future, while Sakkarai van Kathir is in a village with dark secrets. When an unexpected murder rocks the community, it threatens to uncover the hidden fractions under the surface of Kaalipattanam.
Produced by Wallwatcher Films, the series brings back the creative duo of Pushkar and Gayatri as writers and makers, with Bramma and Sarjun Km that handle director tasks. The cast of the ensemble sees the return of Leads Kathir and Aishwarya Rajesh, next to veteran actor Lal. New addition to the cast are Gouri Kishan, Monisha Blessy and Samyuktha Vishwanathan, with special performances by Manjima Mohan and Kayal Chandran.
“The first season of ‘Suzhal – The Vortex’ is a great proof of local stories that break through at a global level,” says Nikhil Madhok, head of originals at Prime Video India. “We are very happy to bring a second season of this messy series.”
Makers Pushkar and Gayatri note that the second season “dives deeper into a dark, mysterious and absorbent crime that is entangled by the life of the natives of a fictional village and the visually lively festival of Ashkakaali.”
The series will stream in several Indian languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada, with English subtitles available to the global audience in more than 240 countries and areas.
“Suzhal – The Vortex” season 2 will premiere on Prime Video on 28 February.
