I take Fannie and Freddie ‘Public’ with implicit warranty

Published in a message about Truth Social Tuesday evening, Trump wrote:
Our large mortgage agencies, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, offer an essential service to our nation by helping hard -working Americans to reach the American Dream – home ownership. I am busy making these great companies public, but I want to be clear, the US government will retain its implicit guarantees and I will remain strong in my position to supervise them as president. These agencies are doing very well now and will help us make America great again!
Trump did not offer specific details on a timeline or what an exit from the conservatory would look like.
The implicit guarantee is one of the more complicated issues that must be solved for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to be removed from the government conservatory. It started 16 years ago.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said earlier that a Fannie and Freddie exit would depend on the implications for mortgage interest.
