Hulk Hogan, Polly Holliday omitted
This year’s Emmy’s contain an emotional farewell to some of the greatest stars and makers in the world. The moving tribute received itself while the song ‘Go Rest High On The Mountain’, sung by Lainey Wilson and Vince Gill, played.
But actors including “Alice” star Polly Holliday, who died on 9 September, became wrestler and actor Hulk Hogan, “What’s Happening” star Danielle Spencer, Graham Greene, Tony Todd and “General Hospital” star Leslie Charleson. Also missing in the segment “King of the Hill” actor Jonathan Joss, Lynne Marie Stewart of “Pee -Wee’s Playhouse” and “Dennis The Menace” himself, Jay North.
The introduction of the segment on stage was Phylicia Rashad, who remembered her “Cosby Show” son Malcolm-Jamal Warner, who died on July 20.
“Malcolm-Jamal Warner stays in our hearts,” said Rashad.
Stars like “Downton Abbey” Downager Maggie Smith, “Good Times” actor John Amos, “Mash” veteran Loretta Swit and musician and reality star Ozzy Osbourne were remembered together with behind the scenes of talent such as “Twin Peaks” maker David Lynch. The segment ended with the last slide devoted to composer Quincy Jones.
Other actors who received Emmy -Teerbeton this year were Linda Lavin, Michelle Trachtenberg, Richard Chamberlain and Loni Anderson.
However, several major actors who mainly worked in film, such as Gene Hackman, Val Kilmer and Terence stamp, were not recorded.
Every year fans criticize when some of their favorite actors are not admitted during the Memoriam section. This is often due to time limitations, because the segment lasts only a few minutes. Sometimes actors and others who are more known in the film or music worlds of the list remain, even if they have appeared on television several times. And Timing also plays a role – although the TV academy can add up to a week or so before the ceremony to the segment, many viewers forget that actors who died earlier in 2024, including Shannen Doherty, Phil Donahue and Richard Simmons, were reminded of last year’s Emmys.
