After 27 years of marriage, Jackman, 56 and Furness, 69, announced their divorce in September 2023, stating mutual respect and love.
But their split took a dramatic turn when Furness applied for a divorce in May 2025 and publicly spoke about the “betrayal” that she felt.
Her statement, made just a few days after submitting, “seriously frightened about what she could reveal” in the form of a memoirs or tell-all TV chat with people like Oprah Winfrey.
An insider revealed while Furness had remained discreet during their marriage and the early stages of their divorce, she now feels authorized to share her side of the story.
“Deborra has remained silent and treated things privately, largely out of respect for the children and to maintain her own dignity and peace of mind,” our source said. “But now that everything has been completed, she is free to speak when she chooses.”
The source added that Furness has an intimate knowledge of Jackman’s life, from his rise to familiarity to his personal uncertainties.
“She knows everything about Hugh – from his modest start and journey to star, to his dreams and vulnerabilities,” the Insider said – added: “She is considering sharing how their marriage with Hugh really was.
“And she has had big offers from publishers, publicists and TV producers to give her side of the story.”
