Huawei announces new AI infrastructure as Nvidia gets locked out of China

Technical giant Huawei revealed new AI infrastructure that is intended to stimulate the calculation and enable the company to better compete with rival chip maker Nvidia.
On a keynote on the Huawei Connect conference On Thursday, Shenzhen, located in China, announced Huawei, new SuperPod Interconnect technology that can connect up to 15,000 graphic maps, including Huawei’s Ascend AI chips, to increase the computing power.
This technology seems to be a competitor for that of Nvidia Nvlink Infrastructure, which facilitates rapid communication between AI chips.
Technology like this is crucial for Huawei to better compete with semiconductors such as Nvidia’s. Although the AI chips from Huawei are less powerful than that of Nvidia, they will be able to cluster its users access to more computing power, what is needed for training and scaling up AI systems.
This news also only comes a day after China forbade domestic technology companies to buy Nvidia’s hardware, including the RTX Pro 600D servers of Nvidia that is specifically designed for the market in China.
