‘High Potential’ renewed for season 2 on ABC
ABC has renewed ‘High Potential’ for a second season.
The procedural originally debuted on ABC in September, with the tenth episode of the first season airing on January 21. The logline for this week’s episode reads: ‘A babysitter is found beaten to death in the park. Elsewhere, Morgan intervenes when Elliot admits he wasn’t invited to his classmate’s party.
“High Potential” is based on the French series “Haut Potientel Intellectuel (HPI).” Kaitlin Olson stars in the American version as Morgan, a single mother with an IQ of 160 who works as a cleaner for the LAPD until she proves that her intelligence gives her a unique talent for solving crimes.
In addition to Olson, the series also stars Daniel Sunjata as Karadec, Javicia Leslie as Daphne, Deniz Akdeniz as Lev “Oz” Ozdil, Amirah J as Ava, Matthew Lamb as Elliot and Judy Reyes as Selena.
The show has proven popular with viewers since its launch. According to ABC, the pilot episode has attracted nearly 30 million viewers across all platforms since its debut.
Drew Goddard developed the series for American television and serves as executive producer along with Sarah Esberg through Goddard Textiles. Todd Harthan serves as showrunner and executive producer. In addition to starring in the lead role, Olson is also a producer on the series. 20th Television is producing, while Harthan currently has an overall deal at the studio.
This is the second renewal of the ABC series announced today. It was previously reported that the single-cam comedy “Abbott Elementary” has been renewed for season 5. Olson and her fellow cast members of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” recently guest-starred on that show.
