HBO Max -Teams with Asian streamer VIU for Southeast -Bundle bundle

HBO Max works together with Asian Streaming Giant VIU to create a uniform subscription package that will debut in five Southeast Asian areas before the end of the year.

The collaboration between the flagship streamer of Warner Bros. Discovery and the PCCW regional platform represents an unprecedented Cross platform Alliance in the Asia-Pacific region. Customers in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand have access to both services via a single payment plan from Q4.

The deal links the Hollywood catalog of HBO Max with the extensive Asian programming library of VIU. Subscribers have access to Warner’s Premium franchises alongside VIU’s Korean drama -lei, Chinese series and locally produced content from all over Southeast Asia.

Warner’s contribution includes large film releases such as the upcoming “A Minecraft Movie” and “Sinners”, Plus -based series such as “Friends” and HBO Originals “The Last of Us” and “The White Lotus.” VIU brings reality hits, including “Running Man” and “2 Days 1 Night”, Chinese titles such as “The Immortal Ascension” and “Love Has Fireworks”, Plus new Korean originals “My Youth” and “Taxi Driver 3.”

James Gibbons, the Asia Pacific President of Warner Bros. Discovery, mentioned the success of comparable collection strategies in other regions as a motivation for the expansion of Southeast Asian.

“According to the proven consumer and business benefits of HBO Max bundles in other parts of the world, this new streaming range will offer a strong entertainment value for consumers in Southeast Asia, and help stimulate the growth of subscribers and a stronger retention,” Gibbons said. “With access to two complementary and world class collections in one subscription, local fans can enjoy even more choice – Premium Hollywood films and series to striking local Asian content.”

For VIU, the Alliance represents a strategic step to improve its competitive position against global streaming rivals that expand to Asian markets. CEO Janice Lee, who also acts as managing director of PCCW Media Group, has framed the partnership as part of VIU’s continuous platform revolution.

“Our collaboration with Warner Bros. Discovery is an exciting step forward in our promise to continuously improve the entertainment options of VIU and to meet the evolving flavors of our viewers,” Lee said. “By combining the Hollywood content of HBO Max with the Asian favorites of VIU in a single bundle subscription, we offer more choice in shows, easier access to various content and more value in a wider programming range.”

Both companies will offer direct sales of the bundle through their respective websites, although the content of each service remains independent. Platform functions and device compatibility will differ between the two services, with additional prices and launch details that must be revealed in the coming months.

VIU operates a freemium model in Asia, the Middle East and South Africa and combines with advertisement-supported free levels with premium subscriptions. The platform received a strategic investment from the French media company Canal+ last year as part of an accelerated growth initiative.
