Google removes pledge to not use AI for weapons from website
Google deleted a promise this week not to build AI for weapons or surveillance from its website. The change was first seen by Bloomberg. The company seems to have updated its Public AI principle page and erase a section entitled “Applications that we will not pursue”, that was Still included As recently as last week.
Asked for comment, the company pointed out WAN A new blog post on “Responsible AI.” It partly notes: “We believe that companies, governments and organizations that share these values must work together to create AI that protects people, promotes global growth and supports national security.”
Google’s Newly updated AI principles Note that the company will work to “reduce unintended or harmful results and to prevent unfair bias”, and tailor the company to “generally accepted principles of international law and human rights.”
In recent years, Google’s contracts to provide the US and Israeli soldiers with cloud services, fueled internal protests from employees. The company has maintained that its AI is not being used to harm people, but the AI chef of the Pentagon recently told WAN that the AI models of some companies accelerate the Kill chain of the US Army.
