Google brings Gemini in Chrome to India

Google announced Wednesday that it is bringing the Gemini integration for Chrome to new regions, including India, Canada and New Zealand. The rollout will allow users to use Gemini in Chrome through a sidebar on the desktop, allowing them to ask Google’s AI chatbot questions about the content on the screen, get information from their Gmail, Keep, Drive, and YouTube, and compare tab contents.
As part of the new rollout, Gemini also supports languages such as Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Telugu and Tamil, in addition to English and Chrome. other newly supported languages.

Google first introduced Gemini to Chrome in the US last September via a floating window. The company introduced sidebar-based Gemini tools earlier this year.
Users who access this feature will see an ‘Ask Gemini’ icon on the tab bar, which they can activate for any tab and ask questions, summarize content, or take a quiz to understand a topic. Google said Gemini can also work across tabs. This means you can list multiple tabs to get an answer, which is useful when you’re comparing items to shop or tickets to buy for a trip.
Gemini can also connect to different tools, request your information and provide more personalized answers. It can also connect to Gmail, Maps, Calendar, YouTube and other Google apps for contextual responses. For example, you can compose an email directly with Gemini in Chrome’s sidebar and send it to someone without leaving the window. You can also ask Gemini to summarize a YouTube video and list the key points next to time stamp marks. The assistant can also schedule meetings or inform you about your day.
Users can also use Google’s generative AI tool Nano Banana 2 directly in Gemini for Chrome to transform images. For example, you can upload a photo of your room while purchasing furniture and ask the assistant to transform the image to see what an item would look like in the room.

Google launched enhanced agentic capabilities in January, which can take over your browser and perform tasks on your behalf, for US-based AI Pro and AI Ultra users. The company is keeping this feature out of the latest expansion for users in India, New Zealand, and Canada.
