Global Constellation Nabs Fantasy Drama ‘All Heroes Are Bastards’

Global Constellation has acquired worldwide distribution rights to the fantasy drama series ‘All Heroes Are Bastards’.

The six-part German show, written and directed by Esra and Patrick Phul, is in post-production and will be delivered late next year.

The series is set in radically divided Cologne, where social divisions are increasing and focus on migrant communities. The series tells the story of Malik, Dina and Hamza, three unlikely heroes who discover a mysterious artifact that grants them extraordinary powers.

When children are suddenly taken from their neighborhoods and separated from their families, the trio join forces to find and save them. At the same time, they are forced to confront systemic oppression – and choose between personal revenge or becoming the last hope for a community fighting a corrupt regime.

‘All Heroes Are Bastards’ stars Kebir Sargin (aka Sero El Mero) in his debut acting role, alongside David Mayonga (‘Girl You Know It’s True’, ‘Wholetrain’), Funda Bostanlik (‘Cinayet-I Ask’, ‘Siginak’) and Pegah Ferydoni (‘A Murder at the End of the World’, ‘Turkish for Beginners’).

The series is produced by Picture Me Rollin and Bildundtonfabrik for ARD Degeto Film in Germany with the support of Film- und Medienstiftung NRW and the German Motion Picture Fund.

Esra and Patrick Phul, founders of Picture Me Rollin, created, directed, wrote and produced the series, together with executive producers Philipp Käßbohrer and Matthias Murmann from production company Bildundtonfabrik (“How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast)”, “King of Stonks”, “Pauline”).

Esra and Patrick Phul said: “Our goal was to open a new space for German genre storytelling – bold, character-driven and internationally relevant. The themes we tackle in ‘All Heroes Are Bastards’ are both universal and socially urgent, yet told in a way never seen before. We are excited to bring this vision to audiences around the world.”
