Giorgio Armani accused of ‘sweatshop’ conditions at work before death

Last month, the antitructor in Italy imposed the penalty of the fashion group of Armani and one of his units $ 4 million for alleged statements of “ethical and social responsibility” that were false and presented in a way that was unclear, non -specific, inaccurate and equal and ambiguous. “
In other words, it lied about how and where some of his “made in Italy” bags and leather accessories actually come from.
The authority said that although the group emphasized its ‘attention to sustainability’, its suppliers made deals with producers who in some cases employed employees illegally and in poor health and safety conditions.
Colleague luxury fashion group Dior is confronted with comparable accusations. A statement from the Italian Watchdog Group said: “In both cases, to make certain articles and clothing accessories, the companies reportedly used supplies from workshops and factories with employees who would not receive enough wages.
“Moreover, such employees would work hours that are higher than the legal limits and in insufficient health and safety conditions, in contrast to the production -expanding levels that the companies are proud of.”
