Frankie Muniz shares Malcolm in the Middle Reboot photo

Frankie Muniz shared a taste of what’s to come Malcolm in the middle revival, by posting a photo of himself next to two of his on-screen brothers.

In a shared photo through his social media accounts on Thursday, October 23, Muniz posed alongside his costars Justin Berfield And Chris Masterson.

“I was told not to post this yet but then I remembered the theme song,” Muniz, 39, wrote alongside the post on the set of Malcolm in the Middle: Life is still unfair. “I’m just too excited for you guys to see the new episodes and I miss my brothers.”

In the caption, Muniz jokingly referenced the They Might Be Giants song “Boss of Me,” where the lyrics of the chorus read, “You’re not the boss of me now.”

Muniz played the titular character Malcolm in the original hit series, which ran from 2000 to 2006. Berfield and Masterson played Malcom’s brothers Reese and Francis, respectively, and all three actors will return for the revival series, set to debut on Disney+ in 2026.

Bryan Cranston And Jane Kaczmarek played the parents of the boys Hal and Louis and are also back for the four-part revival. Erik Per Sullivanwho played Malcolm’s younger brother Dewey, chose not to return. Instead, his character is played by Caleb Ellsworth-Clark.

In March, news emerged that Disney+ was greenlighting one Malcolm in the middle revival series. It was written by Linwood Boomer, who created the original series.

According to a press release, the new incarnation will follow Malcolm and his daughter who “get sucked into the family chaos when Hal and Lois demand his presence for their 40th wedding anniversary.”

Speak with We weekly on September 4, Muniz teased what to expect from the new show.

“It was kind of written as a two-hour movie,” Muniz shared exclusively Us. “It’s basically one storyline… I spent so long wondering, ‘What was Malcolm up to? What is his family up to?’ I think [we] get good answers.”

The actor also talked about how the “surreal” experience of bringing the gang back together came about.

“I think I posted a tweet in 2015, [saying]”It would be so cool to see where Malcolm and his family are.” I couldn’t believe the reaction and how [many people] That drove me crazy,” Muniz told Us. “I called [show creator] Linwood Boomer, and he said, ‘No, I like how it ended.’ Bryan and I talked about it, and he took the lead in making it happen. In the past, both Cranston and Kaczmarek have separately explained why Per Sullivan is missing from the cast this time around.

“He wasn’t interested in acting at all. He goes to school at a very, very, very prestigious American university that he asked us all to keep quiet about,” Kaczmarek said in a 2024 interview with Malcolm Franceinsisting he is doing “very, very well”.

She added that she respected his choice and admired Per Sullivan for doing what was right for him.
