Frankie Grande Thinks About Celebrating First Holiday Without Nonna (Excl)

Frankie Grande revealed how his family lost their beloved Nonna (real name Marjorie Grande) during the first holiday period without her.
“We have some decorations that remind me of her, and there’s a picture of us that we’re going to hang on the tree,” he said. We weekly exclusively at From magazine‘s Out100 event on Friday, November 21 in Hollywood.
Frankie, 42, said he and his sister: Ariana Grandewill keep up with Nonna’s traditions, including making some of her famous dishes.
“We’re going to make Nonna’s meatballs and Nonna’s zeppole. So she has a recipe that she passed down to my mom and then to me and to Ari, and we cook it every year because she hasn’t really been able to stand at the stove for the last few years,” he explained. “It will be very different to do it without her. But we know she is there. She is watching.”
The actor and singer joked that Nonna will likely have “notes” about the holiday food he and Ariana, 32, want to make in her memory.
“She’s going to smell the garlic cooking in the fried oil, and she’s going to say, ‘Smells good.’ Actually, she probably has notes,” he said. “Yes, she’ll have notes. She’ll say, ‘There’s too much milk in that!'”
Frankie is most excited about the Christmas events in New York.
“I love the Rockettes. So I really want to go to the Rockettes,” he said Us about his upcoming vacation plans. He also made sure to give his little sister a shout-out ahead of hosting Ariana Saturday evening live‘s Christmas episode with musical guest Cher.

‘I want to see Cher sing a Christmas carol SNL. I have to be in the room with my sister for that, so that’s nice. I love having Ariana host, so I can’t wait to see what she does,” said Frankie.
He is also looking forward to catching up on some sleep as his schedule has been hectic lately.
“Christmas is already busy. My God! I’m going out.” Death ride tour of Alyssa Edwards And Kori King. [We’re] go to red and purple cities and some blue ones too, so look up the tour schedule. [I’m] dropping a new single [on] December 5th,” Frankie shared. “I mean, hopefully I’ll be sleeping through Christmas.”
Frankie has spoken Us about his upcoming memoir, Super cool!which will be released next year, and teased that there will be “lots of Nonna stories” throughout the book.
“I’m just really grateful that we’ve already started the tradition of telling the amazing stories about my Nonna,” he said with a laugh when asked about Ariana, who recalled his coming out story on a recent episode of Amy Poehler‘s podcast.
“We all share our family stories all the time,” he responded. “The rest of the story is even funnier. Oh, my God. Nonna is such a character. It’s the best thing in the whole world.”
Frankie and Ariana’s grandmother died in June at the age of 99. The family revealed the news by reposting their mother Joan Grande‘s tribute.
“We are devastated to share that our family’s beloved matriarch has passed away,” the statement said. “Marjorie (Nonna) Grande passed away peacefully in her home and was surrounded by her family and loved ones for every moment of her past weeks. We thank you for your love, support and for respecting our privacy as we grieve and celebrate her beautiful, extraordinary life.”
Frankie joined several other LGBTQIA+ stars at the Out100 event, which spotlighted the most influential people in the queer community.
The night included Niecy Nash-Betts receiving the Icon Award via a video message due to scheduling problems, Kathy Griffin is presented with the Advocate of the Year by Sia, and Boots star Miles Heizer as one of the Out100 awards.
