Fox News plans 90-second news recaps for Fox TV stations

Bill Melugin is getting a new spotlight from Fox News – albeit only briefly.
The Fox News congressional correspondent will host a new 90-second news story that will air on 18 TV stations owned and operated by parent company Fox Corp. and made available to affiliates of the Fox broadcast network. Beginning Monday, February 23, Melugin will lead the “Fox News Report,” which will provide national and global headlines ranging from politics to sports to entertainment.
The “Fox News Report” airs weekdays at 5:58 p.m. eastern.
Fox News brings other types of programming to Fox stations, including the first edition of “Fox News Sunday,” the newsmaker interview program anchored by Shannon Bream. Bream and Bill Hemmer have also occasionally provided breaking news or coverage of important national events, such as the annual State of the Union address for Fox stations.
The new “cut-in” shows that Fox News is working to bring additional exposure to a new generation of reporters, anchors and correspondents. In recent months, Fox News has given higher-visibility assignments to staffers including Lawrence Jones; Jacqui Heinrich; Aishah Hasnee; and Peter Doocy.
Melugin joined Fox News in May 2021 as a West Coast correspondent. He has the American border covered; wildfire outbreaks in California; and the 2022 mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, among others. He previously worked as an investigative journalist for KTTV, the Fox channel in Los Angeles. He is a graduate of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University, and has a degree in broadcast journalism.
