Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers Quarterback Chris Simms Lists Historic 300-Year-Old Home in Greenwich for $8 Million

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Chris Simms has put his 300-year-old ranch-style home in Connecticut on the market for $8 million as he prepares to turn the historic home over to a new owner.

The 45-year-old – who retired from the NFL in 2010 after a spleen injury – and his wife, Daniellaput their longtime Greenwich residence on the market on Feb. 6, property records show.

Simms, who now serves as an analyst for NBC Sports, bought the house in 2019 for $2.5 million, less than a third of the price it is currently listed for.

But the property’s illustrious history goes far beyond the Simms family’s ownership. Originally built in 1725, it has undergone many restorations and updates since then.

Yet the listing, which is held by Monica Webster by Douglas Elliman, highlights the house’s impressive pedigree, describing it as a “piece of Greenwich history” set in 10 acres of idyllic grounds.

Throughout the house, modern aesthetics have been painstakingly combined with historic charm, carefully preserving the original elegance of the property, while also breathing new life into the antique bones.

“A thoughtful renovation enhances comfort throughout, including a newly created master suite with cathedral ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, a custom dressing room and a private staircase to a serene, light-filled office and library retreat for everyday living,” the listing continues.

According to Robb ReportSimms and his wife have lived in Greenwich for many years, having previously sold another home in the area for $2.7 million before moving to their farm.

They chose the farm because of its impressive plot and noted to the outlet that they wanted more space for their horses.

However, they are now looking to move to a new state and want to pass on their current home to a new owner who will cherish it as much as they do.

Before settling in Connecticut, Simms enjoyed a long career in the NFL, one that began at the University of Texas at Austin before being drafted by the Buccaneers as the final pick of the final round in the 2003 NFL draft.

Simms remained with Tampa Bay until 2008, when he was released by the team. He was later picked up by the Tennessee titanswith whom he played for a year before moving to the Denver Broncos.

After a brief return to the Titans, the quarterback’s career came to an end, with many pointing to a 2006 spleen injury as the reason for his retirement from the NFL.

He briefly tried his hand as a coach and signed with the New England Patriots in 2012 as an attacking coach and as a scouting expert, but he switched to broadcasting after just a few months.

Simms and his wife, who met in high school, tied the knot in 2004 and now share two children.
