Former MTV star Chelsea DeBoer admits she regrets ‘Teen Mom 2’ as she applauds HGTV for protecting her children’s privacy
Housing expert Chelsea DeBoer has admitted that she regrets her children appearing on “Teen Mom 2,” noting that she is grateful to HGTV for respecting their privacy.
DeBoer, 34, who rose to fame on MTV’s ’16 and Pregnant’ series, revealed that she and her husband, Cole DeBoerThe 37-year-old, who tied the knot in 2016, said goodbye to “Teen Mom 2.”
While you’re talking to PauseRewindChelsea, who now hosts the HGTV series “Down Home Fab,” confessed that she wishes she didn’t share so much of her children’s lives on the show.
Chelsea, who shares daughter Aubree with her ex-boyfriend, Adam Lindand children Watson, LayneAnd Hikerwith Cole, also gushed on HGTV.
“Looking back, I don’t know if I would choose that again right now. I’m so grateful for it [the show] and everything, I’m just saying, for our children now,” she said.
“I think the biggest thing we’ve learned as we’ve gotten older and the kids have gotten older is that we want to be very selective in how we show the kids, how much we show the kids, and really want to keep them safe,” she added.
She admitted she was nervous about jumping to HGTV after appearing on “Teen Mom 2” from 2011 to 2019.
The mother of four explained, “I was a little nervous going into it, and I don’t even know why. I think I had been on TV for so long before that, and it was such a different dynamic.”
She added: “Reality TV like ‘Teen Mom’ was very chaotic, you know, a little bit negative at times. It was a very different feeling when we started [at] HGTV. Actually, I wasn’t nervous about anything. I thought, they want us to look good. They want people to love us, and they want to show our true personality. And so I thought: excited too, just because I trust these people 100% and I’m not nervous about anything. I can say anything.”
Chelsea also admitted that she was offered the opportunity to be a host on HGTV by sending a DM that she immediately unsent out of “embarrassment.”
“I feel like it’s so out of character to take my chances on things like that, but I felt brave that night, I guess. And I just sent a little DM, and I remember deleting it right after I sent it because I was like, ‘I’m so embarrassed.’ And I felt so stupid,” she said.
However, after Chelsea and Cole landed the series, she wished she had kept the message.
“And so when we had the show, I thought, ‘Oh, I wish I could see that message.’ So luckily HGTV saved it and posted it somewhere, but it’s just so wild.” she revealed.
