‘Forever’, ‘Paradise’ under the Aafca TV Honors winners of this year

Netflix’s “Forever” and Hulu’s “Paradise” led the list of winners, while the African American Film Critics Association unveiled its annual AAFCA TV -Significances, in addition to the TV TOP Ten list and the Special Achievement Honorees from 2025.

During the 7th annual AAFCA TV Honors, which will be held on August 23 in the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, “Paradise” is awarded Best Drama and Best Actor (Sterling K. Brown), while “Forever” is recognized for the best new show, best writing and best director.

Sony Pictures TV chairman Keith Le Goy also receives the TV Vanguard Award at the event; Disney Branded TV Prexy Ayo Davis receives the Salute to Excellence Award; Own TV President Tina Perry receives the Visionary Award; Writer/producer Mara Brock Akil, who also helped “Forever”, gets the Legacy Award; Actress/comedian Michelle Buteau gets the trail blower Award; Producer/director Nneka Onuorah receives the 2025 Horizon Award; And actress and author Denise Nicholas get the 2025 TV Icon Award.

“Our Honores are the heartbeat of the television industry,” said Gil Robertson, co-founder and president of Aafca. “While the entertainment world finds its foot again, post-stikes, post-strikes and in the midst of a shifting political and cultural landscape, the class of Honorees this year is an example of the solid, innovative leadership that is essential to help industry move forward.”

Best reality – “gene zone” (bet+)
Best Limited Series – “The Big Sigar” (Apple TV+)
Best TV film-“The Supremes at Earl’s All-You-Can-Eat” (Hulu)
Best ensemble “Bel-Air” (Peacock)
Best New Show – “Forever” (Netflix)
