To celebrate the opening of their new base in Newcastle, easyJet and easyJet Holidays have teamed up with Geordie institution Greggs to bring sausage rolls into the sky as they launch limited-edition Sausage Roll dips.

Inspired by new easyJet holiday destinations, the weird and wonderful flavors include a twist on the French classic Tarte Tatin, an original twist on the much-loved Spanish Sangria and a Kebab-inspired flavor that offers a taste of Turkey.

easyJet’s cabin crew are already turning heads, serving up a taste of their new destinations at some of the North East’s most famous landmarks, including the Tyne Bridge, St James’ Park and the Angel of the North.

Travelers flying from Newcastle Airport on Monday 23 March were also treated to complimentary Geordie cakes and destination-inspired dips to enjoy on board easyJet’s international flights.

All week*, Geordies can get their hands on the free, limited-edition dips with a special easyJet cabin crew service landing in central Newcastle.

The new easyJet and easyJet vacations Destination Dips range includes:

Enjoy Italy with Silky Affogato – Intense deep roasted coffee, decadent cocoa and aromatic vanilla bean. A classic Italian treat.
Fly to France with spicy tarte tatin – the comforting taste of caramelized apple and warm cinnamon, with a delicate hint of thyme. A refined pastry classic.
Transported to Tunisia with Spicy Harissa Ketchup – Vibrant and exotic, this sweet-spicy ketchup combines rich tomato, sweet date and tangy pomegranate.

The airline now offers 86 flights per week to 22 holiday destinations in Europe and North Africa – an increase of 85% on last summer, including new routes to Antalya, Corfu, Dalaman, Enfidha, Faro, Lisbon, Malta, Nice, Prague, Reus, Rhodes, Rome, Sharm-El-Sheikh and Tenerife.

Newcastle is easyJet’s 11th UK base opening, following the launch of London Southend Airport last year and Birmingham in 2024, as the airline continues its trajectory of regional growth in the UK, offering more direct connectivity and choice to UK customers.

The new base offers more than 800,000 seats for holiday customers to choose from when planning their getaway this summer, with packages including flights and hotel, as well as 23kg luggage and transfers during beach holidays.

Garry Wilson, CEO of easyJet Holidays, said:
“We’re delighted to be launching a new base in Newcastle, driven by strong demand for our flights and package holidays in the region. This is an important milestone for us, so partnering with Greggs, a true Geordie icon and one of the city’s most famous exports, felt like the perfect way to celebrate our arrival.

“Offering sausage rolls on board and on the streets is our way of saying thank you to the North East as we continue to make travel from their local airport easy and affordable.”

Nick Jones, CEO of Newcastle Airport, said:
“The launch of easyJet’s new base marks a significant milestone for Newcastle Airport and the wider North East region, and we are delighted to celebrate this occasion in partnership with Greggs.

It will also deliver significant economic benefits through the creation of high-quality jobs and will attract more inbound visitors to the region.

“easyJet’s investment is a huge vote of confidence in the airport and the North East and will play a crucial role in meeting the growing demand for flights and package holidays as we prepare for our busiest year ever, with six million passengers expected.”

Hannah Squirrell, customer director at Greggs, said:
“As a company born and bred in the North East, we are delighted to be working with easyJet to mark the launch of their new base in Newcastle. This is a fantastic opportunity for the local community, and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate than with a sausage roll!”
