FCC chairman repeats Donald Trump’s call for NBC to fire Seth Meyers

Brendan Carr, the chairman of the FCC, once again shared Donald Trump’s demand to fire Seth Meyers from NBC after he became the subject of his roasts on the host’s late night show.

Trump posted Truth Social on Saturday: “NBC’s Seth Meyers is suffering from an incurable case of Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS). He was watched in an uncontrollable rage last night, probably due to the fact that his ‘show’ is a DISASTER in the ratings. Apart from everything else, Meyers has no talent, and NBC should fire him IMMEDIATELY!”

Over the past week, Meyers has repeatedly made fun of Trump in his monologues, poking fun at his plans for health care, the government shutdown, a 50-year mortgage, a dinner with financial executives and the ongoing controversy over the Jeffrey Epstein files.

Shortly after Trump’s post, Carr reposted the president’s message to his X account.

Although Carr did not comment, his public co-signing of the president’s demand for NBC to fire its late-night hosts comes after his apparent threat to take action against ABC over comments made by Jimmy Kimmel following the murder of Charlie Kirk in September.

While appearing on Benny Johnson’s podcast on September 17, Carr suggested that the FCC “has remedies that we can look at.”

“We can do this the easy way or the hard way,” Carr said. “These companies can find ways to change their behavior and, quite frankly, take action against Kimmel or there will be additional work for the FCC.”

A few hours after Carr’s comments, two major networks, Nexstar and Sinclair, pulled “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” from airing on several of their affiliates, as well as on ABC, causing Kimmel’s show to be suspended indefinitely.

“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” returned to the air on September 23.
