F1 drama series ‘One’ with Felicity Jones Lands at Amazon MGM

The engines are warming up in ‘One’, the drama series set in the world of Formula 1 racing and in which Felicity Jones is attached, both in the lead role and in executive production.

Variety understands that the series is in development at Amazon MGM Studios for Prime Video, although it has not yet been officially ordered.

“One” – Formula 1’s first officially sanctioned scripted series – will focus on a failing family racing team, led by Jones’ character, that must contend with fierce personalities, ever-changing rivals and multi-million dollar interests.

The series is produced by Bedrock Entertainment, launched in 2020 as a joint venture between “Band of Brothers” producer Tony To, “True Detective” executive producer Dan Sackheim and ITV Studios America. Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby – who were nominated for an Oscar for “Children of Men” – will write and executive produce.

To will executive produce “One” for Bedrock, along with Sackheim and ITV Studios America’s president and general manager Philippe Maigret.

Jones will also produce alongside her brother Alexander Jones for their Piecrust Pictures banner, which recently included the graphic novel adaptation “100 Nights of Hero,” starring Nicholas Galitzine, Charli XCX and Richard E. Grant.

The news of Amazon MGM’s development of ‘One’ comes during a busy period for Jones, who recently earned a Golden Globes nomination for ‘The Brutalist’ and has several projects in the pipeline, including the feature films ‘Night Train’ and ‘ Oh. What. Pleasure.”

Jones is repped by Independent Talent Group, WME, Peikoff Mahan, 2 p.m. Sharp.
