EXCLUSIVE: ‘The Pitt’ Star Katherine LaNasa Celebrates HBO Hit Premiere by Buying New $2 Million LA Mansion

‘The Pitt’ star Katherine LaNasa has quickly become one of Hollywood’s brightest stars since the hit HBO medical drama premiered — and it looks like she celebrated the debut of her new role in true A-list fashion: by purchasing a new mansion in Los Angeles.
According to property records, LaNasa, 59, and her husband, former “Melrose Place” star Grant show63, spent $2.13 million on a sprawling 2025s modern “masterpiece” located just “steps from the Hollywood sign” in March 2025, about two months after “The Pitt” premiered on HBO.
The purchase of their new home, located in Beachwood Canyon, came about a year after they sold a charming beachfront retreat in Marina del Rey, CA, for $1.88 million, a property they had owned for more than a decade.
While their new home doesn’t have the same proximity to the ocean, it does have a range of impressive features befitting such a star couple, including a very impressive architectural pedigree, originally designed by a well-known architect. Lorenzo Tedesco in the sixties.
According to the original description, the home had been owned by the same owners for more than five decades when LaNasa and Show purchased the home, which was hailed as “a true piece of Los Angeles history.”
Designed to “blend seamlessly into the natural environment,” the home features a stone and wood exterior, as well as enormous windows that maximize the beautiful vistas in every room.
You can also enjoy these views from the house’s many balconies, which also provide perfect places to sit and enjoy the scenery.
While the home itself was described as a one-of-a-kind gem, the listing also noted that the expansive lot — which spans just under half an acre — also offered plenty of opportunity for expansion, should LaNasa and Show want to make any additions to the existing 2,500-square-foot home.
“This is a rare opportunity to own a piece of architectural history, ready for someone who appreciates its beauty and rich history,” the advertisement concluded.
It seems LaNasa and Show fell head over heels in love with the house: They paid more than $100,000 over the original asking price of $1.99 million to secure the property.
The purchase undoubtedly marked a bold new chapter for LaNasa, who recently admitted that she had been in “a dark place” before securing her role on “The Pitt,” a heartache she attributed to her breast cancer diagnosis in February 2023, coupled with the fact that she had been “unemployed for a while.”
LaNasa has seen her star rise to wild new heights since debuting the character, even claiming an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series at the 2025 ceremony.
But the actress recently opened up during a recent appearance Stephen Colbertlate night show about the even more impactful ways her life changed after landing ‘The Pitt’.
“About a year before I got ‘The Pitt,’ I was in a dark place, I was unemployed for a while and had cancer,” she recalls.
The actress further revealed that as a youngster, she was always taught to explore how she could have changed her fortunes during difficult times. She admitted that she had trained herself to think that if she “did everything perfectly,” she would be immune to any kind of loss or hardship.
“So when I found myself in this place, I felt like a failure. And I was drenched in regret,” she confessed. “And I kept having thoughts of, ‘If only you hadn’t smelled that encounter,’ or, ‘Why did you say that?’ or ‘Why did you use hormones to get pregnant?’ or ‘Why did you drink so much?’ or ‘If only I had started Botox when I was 30.'”
LaNasa admitted she gave herself “no mercy” even as she struggled with her cancer treatment — until she saw a clip of an interview between Colbert and CNN host Anderson Cooperin which the two men discussed how grief had affected their lives.
According to LaNasa, seeing Colbert speak out about grief as an essential part of the human experience helped her understand that she didn’t have the ability to insulate herself from bad emotions, at least not if she really wanted to experience the good emotions.

“I saw that segment of you talking to Anderson Cooper, which is so famous. And you, and I paraphrase, say, ‘Our grief and our loss is part of what makes us human and it allows us to understand and connect with other people. And if we really want to love our lives, we have to love everything, we can’t turn our backs on that part,'” she recalled.
“You’re pretty smart! And I heard you, I heard you. In the depths of my despair I heard you. And I started living by this new thing, which is: sometimes you lose. Sometimes you get the short end of the stick, sometimes you do it wrong.
“Life will bring us great beauty and great joy, but it will also slap us on the ass, and bring us sadness and loss. So I started living this, I started becoming lighter.”
Soon after, LaNasa landed the role of Dana in “The Pitt,” a role she said her battle with cancer “helped beautifully,” especially when it came to understanding the integral role medical providers play in our lives.
“And it connected with people and they gave me an Emmy, and I was on stage! And I was so overwhelmed that I felt like I was taking in everything I wanted to say. But I had the good sense to take in all the joy and energy that came out of the audience,” she added.
LaNasa’s candid confession about how her life changed thanks to her role on ‘The Pitt’ comes just days after her co-star, Wyle, made a similar admission about the show.
Wyle, who has chosen for years to live on a sprawling ranch in Santa Ynez, CA, away from the bright lights of Hollywood, opened up about his struggles in an interview with The New York Timestelling the paper that things were getting so “bleak,” as the publication put it, he even considered selling his baseball card collection to raise some extra money.
Although Wyle had appeared in several projects in the wake of ‘ER’, nothing he did seemed to mirror the success of that first big hit – and he soon found interest in his career beginning to wane.
The actor, who has three children: a son, Owen23, and daughter, Auden20, with ex-wife Tracyand a daughter, Franceswith his second wife, Sara– recalled a moment several years ago when, despite mounting bills, he took out his impressive collection of baseball cards and arranged them all in an exhibition book so an expert could assess their value.
Property records show Wyle also floated the idea of selling his old home in Santa Ynez, a sprawling 200-acre estate he moved to as “ER” was coming to an end.
According to data from Realtor.com®, the property was listed for just under $6.5 million in March 2020; however, the listing was withdrawn in June of the same year.
It is unclear whether the actor made the decision to put the house on the market as a result of the financial difficulties he faced around the same time.

Wyle had purchased the property – which consists of two lots – during his final years of filming “ER,” and explained to Cowboys & Indians magazine in 2019 that he wanted his children to have a more rural upbringing, without being too far from Los Angeles.
“Just for practical reasons, I needed to be geographically close to Los Angeles, but I didn’t want to raise my kids in Los Angeles,” he explained. “I grew up in Los Angeles. I’m an Angeleno and I just wanted something more rural, smaller and slower than city life for my kids.
“Two hours was about the distance I could drive after work on a Friday evening when I did ‘first aid’ and didn’t fall asleep at the wheel.”
The actor noted that the family had embraced an abundance of wildlife on the ranch, adding pigs, chickens, horses, dogs and cats to their brood.
Before moving to the ranch, Wyle and his family lived in a property in Los Feliz, which he sold in 2004, after listing the property for $3.8 million.
Speaking to the Times, Wyle didn’t clarify when his financial problems became so severe, but he credits the COVID-19 pandemic with helping him find new purpose in his life, in part because instead of being unable to find work that really mattered, he was forced to stop working altogether.
While this may not have helped his finances, it has did led to a resurgence in his popularity – as medical professionals began turning to Wyle and his “ER” colleagues for some sort of comfort.
Wyle admits they premiered “The Pitt” without really having an idea of how it would perform. Only to discover that lightning can really strike twice, with large numbers of viewers flocking to watch the entire first series, which chronicles one day in the emergency room, hour by hour.
HBO Max renewed the show for a second season before the first episode aired. The latest episodes debuted on January 8 – less than four months after ‘The Pitt’ scored a trio of major wins at the 2025 Emmy Awards.
Speaking to Variety during the series’ second season premiere, Wyle admitted he was stunned by the response to the show. He told the newspaper on the red carpet: “I didn’t think enlightenment would strike twice in my life, 30 years apart… it’s the greatest gift.”
When asked if he had a message for his younger self, he quickly responded, “Don’t worry so much, you’ll be fine. Don’t sell your baseball collection.”
