EXCLUSIVE: Daytona legend Hurley Haywood quickly puts his Florida home on the market for $5.2 million

Former racing driver Hurley Haywood is selling his sprawling Florida mansion for $5.2 million, more than a decade after retiring to the Sunshine State estate.
The five-time 24 Hours of Daytona winner, 77, listed his St. Augustine home on Feb. 1, after purchasing the picturesque home for $725,000 in 2012, on Realtor.com® can exclusively reveal.
The three-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bathroom property spans 4,180 square feet and – perhaps unsurprisingly – comes complete with a good-sized three-car garage.
Haywood’s house, which is listed Jane Chefan And Jessica Chefan Hansen with One Sotheby’s International Realty, is designed for “everyday comfort and elegant entertainment,” according to the description.
“Located in one of St. Augustine’s most sought-after waterfront enclaves and designed by renowned Cronk Duch Architects, the home offers sophisticated coastal living within walking distance of historic downtown St. Augustine,” reveals a press release shared with Realtor.com.

Before you enter the property, you are greeted with a coastal facade highlighted by blue and white paneling.
Upon entering, guests are impressed by the white walls decorated with art, the high ceilings and the elegant wooden staircase.
The listing notes that the home offers “sophisticated coastal living with uncompromising quality, privacy and craftsmanship.”
Adjacent to the foyer is the living room with a cozy fireplace, dark wooden floors and black French doors that allow natural light to enter.
The kitchen is certainly one of the most luxurious rooms in the house.
The press release reveals: “Find a chef’s kitchen with high-end appliances and an open concept layout that flows seamlessly into the family and dining areas. A sophisticated wet bar is outfitted with custom built-in cabinetry and a 140-bottle Sub-Zero wine cooler.
“Rich architectural details include Carlisle wide plank pine floors, custom built-ins, curated lighting and a dedicated home theater with updated equipment.”

Upstairs there is a large primary suite with enough space for a king bed. There are also many large windows in the bedrooms.
The master bathroom is the epitome of elegance and features marble sinks, a large soaking tub and a glass-enclosed shower.
There is also an office area with dark wood furniture, such as a desk and cabinets.
“The luxury amenities include a sauna, a whole-house Sonos sound system, a residential elevator, a central vacuum system and a built-in safe.
“The property features two separate casitas with private access, perfect for guests, extended family or adaptable uses such as a home office or studio,” the press release said.
While the home’s interior is certainly luxurious, the exterior somehow outshines it with its “luxurious heated saltwater pool with modern appliances, a convenient cabana tub and a gas fireplace – all set against the backdrop of the tranquil waterfront.”
For outdoor adventure enthusiasts, there is also a new dock with concrete pilings, boat and jet ski lifts and vinyl bulkheads located on a 75 x 160 waterfront lot.

The listing adds, “Built for durability and peace of mind, the home features concrete block construction, cementitious siding, a metal roof, hurricane windows, foam insulation, two new AC units and a 26 kW generator backed by a 500 gallon underground gas tank.
“The main garage offers a vehicle lift and extensive custom closet storage. This rare waterfront offering combines timeless architectural design, modern luxury and exceptional construction in one of St. Augustine’s most coveted, walkable locations.”
Haywood began his professional driving career in 1969.
In 1973 he took his first victory in the 24 Hours of Daytona, followed by four other victories at the event in 1975, 1977, 1979 and 1991.
In 1977 Haywood won the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The racing driver also won the 12 Hours of Sebring in 1973 and 1981. In 1980 he finished 18th in the Indianapolis 500.
He retired in 2012 and is now honorary chief driving instructor at the Porsche Track Experience.
